Ambit 3 peak not connecting to mac
-
I have an ambit 3 peak which is currently saying I need to sync my moves as the storage is filling up. It connects fine with the suunto app on my phone via bluetooth, however I cannot get it to connect to my laptop. I have also tried on a windows laptop and that also doesn’t work. Does anyone have any advice?

@12shughes Why do you need to connect it to your mac, doesn’t Suunto app sync it via Bluetooth?
What exactly happens when you try to connect it to mac or Windows?

@Raimo-Järvi Sorry for the delayed reply. It does sync via bluetooth to my phone but not sure I can do that to my mac? So I don’t think there’s any way to change the settings on it?
When I try and connect it, the mac just doesn’t detect it at all, although the watch starts charging. -
@12shughes In macOS and Windows you can only connect to SuuntoLink with USB, not Bluetooth. But doesn’t your phone sync workouts (moves) from your watch? If you want to change watch settings, that can only be done in SuuntoLink. But workouts are synced by both Suunto mobile app and SuuntoLink.
You could check if Ambit USB device is visible in macOS System Information. If it’s not, USB connection doesn’t work and it’s most likely some hardware problem.

@12shughes When my Ambit3 Peak stopped synchronizing with both my Mac and Windows laptops, it was due to a bad sync cord. Even though my sync cord was only six months old, and purchased from a Suunto dealer (not a place like ebay), it did not last. Sad to say, this is typical that the todays cords last less than a year. I use ebay type cords to charge my watch, and Suunto cords when a laptop sync is required.
You also need a cord and a laptop to factory reset your watch.
I love my Ambit3 Peak, no matter how old it is. I hate the cord(s).
