Sync does not work since last software update (2.33.12)
-
My Suunto Race doesn’t sync with the app since the last software update (2.33.12). I contacted support but didn’t get any useful advice other than to send the watch in for repair. I tried all the usual remedies - power off/on, reinstall the app, unpair/pair - but nothing helped.
On the forum I found the same problem with the update for the Suunto Vertical, so it looks like a general problem with another model as well.
Well, I’m not going to make a big deal about it, but this looks like a critical bug that needs Suunto’s attention. Without the ability to sync data with the app, the watch is pretty much useless.

@satom On Android or IOS? Works for me without problems with same Race firmware on Android…🧐.
-
@ChrisA Using iOS (17.4.1) on an iPhone 14 Pro. I did some longer hikes over the weekend… so this may be a problem.
-
@satom maybe some specific issue/constellation then. As I read in the thread you provided, there are iOS users haveing no problems with syncing.
-
@ChrisA my sync with iOS and SV as never been faster. It works awesomely !
-
@ChrisA There are other users in the thread with iPhone and the same problem as me. Look here for example - this is the same problem with iPhone 13 Pro:
https://forum.suunto.com/post/142128
The problem is that the app starts to synchronise activities, but for each activity the watch gives the message (in German) “Aktivitäten wurden nicht synchronisiert” / “Activities were not synchronised” and after a few attempts it stops and disconnects. After that, the watch remains disconnected and only a new pairing helps. But then the next sync fails again, and so on.
Some of the activities I have done have been longer walks (6+ hours) so maybe this is a problem. If you read the Vertical thread I linked above carefully, you’ll see that I’m certainly not the only one with this problem.
Here is a screenshot of the message:
I would be happy to provide any other information (screenshots, logs…) if that would help.

It is a problem caused by the last update, the same occurs to the Vertical model

Oh, I didn’t want to say it’s only you, but it’s not everyone on iOS, so there must be something ‘specifically’ with those users phones / settings whatsoever. I understand that’s annoying and I hope you’ll find a solution soon

I’m joining the club as I have the same issue as all of you here (iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 17.4.1)
-
@ChrisA Yes, this sounds crazy because indeed not everyone on iOS has this problem… I‘m glad because for me, everything works fine… I updated the watch and the app on iOS 7.3.xx, and now, I updated my iPhone 13 on iOS 7.4.1 and it works as expected, not different from before…
-
@SuperFlo75 perhaps it’s only with specific models? Iphone 13s not affected vs 14s always? Or if there are certain security settings activated, perhaps only in combination with some country specific settings… That’s a though one

We are also people with Android phones who are facing syncing/BT connection issues so it is not only an iOS problem only.
-
@Mads-Hintz-Madsen I’m have the same sync problem since the last Suunto update (Iphone-user). Not with small activities, but lager activities are not synchronised.
-
Same sync problem here also that started after the update. I have Samsung s24 with latest Android so I think it’s not related to spesific phone, but an different watch hardware.
For me, the BT re-pairing fixes the issue, but only for that excercise. Also noticed that shorter excercises are synced ok.
Hoprfully they are fixing this soon, because it’s getting frustrated to re-pair everytime. But, I live in finland and worked with Suunto as subcontactor back in Ambit days, so maybe I’ll start asking my old contacts what’s going on

I have exactly the same issue here with my suunto race, latest update and Galaxy S20 FE.
When trying to sync activities it fails and try to connect again and again.
On my side re-pairing is not enough. I have to dissociate and also reinstall the app after each sync. And when it can sync again it takes ages for other steps like GPS settings improvement.
So at this time, the watch is almost useless.
Suunto Dev team, please react asap and give some info

@tellierb issue is being looked at I assure you guys

I experienced the same sync problems. A hard/factory reset of the watch solved the problem for me. Although, it is annoying and I lost a couple of activities, at least the new activities are properly logged.
Sunnto Race, iPhone 15 Pro running the latest software available.
EDIT: the problem came back after five activities.

Same issue for me since update. Google Pixel 8 on Android not connecting / syncing to Suunto Race. The work rounds do not help, although it will sync a small activity after a few hours sometimes but not long activities.
I have only just been sent the Race after my Suunto 7 could not be repaired. The support chat seemed to not acknowledge this issue until I pushed them. They then said I should send the watch back but if, as it seems, this is not firmware but a software issue, that would be a useless step and take my watch away from me for another 3 months which is what it took last time!
I am also running the London Marathon in 12 days and it would have been useful to record this event on my watch. Can’t rely on that working so will need to carry my phone with me to sync to Strava.
One last observation … the app keeps telling me there is new software to download although the watch says it is already on 2.33.12. I wonder if there is a way to force a reload of the software to the watch as the software update button on the watch is greyed out and does say it is up to date. The old Suunto Link software does not work on the Race watch. Any top tips on this?
Good luck all - let’s hope Suunto sort this out before the London!

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Thank you for the info. Do you have any more info to share ? If the problem has been identified ? Any scheduled update to correct the problem ?
