Sync does not work since last software update (2.33.12)
-
Same issue for me since update. Google Pixel 8 on Android not connecting / syncing to Suunto Race. The work rounds do not help, although it will sync a small activity after a few hours sometimes but not long activities.
I have only just been sent the Race after my Suunto 7 could not be repaired. The support chat seemed to not acknowledge this issue until I pushed them. They then said I should send the watch back but if, as it seems, this is not firmware but a software issue, that would be a useless step and take my watch away from me for another 3 months which is what it took last time!
I am also running the London Marathon in 12 days and it would have been useful to record this event on my watch. Can’t rely on that working so will need to carry my phone with me to sync to Strava.
One last observation … the app keeps telling me there is new software to download although the watch says it is already on 2.33.12. I wonder if there is a way to force a reload of the software to the watch as the software update button on the watch is greyed out and does say it is up to date. The old Suunto Link software does not work on the Race watch. Any top tips on this?
Good luck all - let’s hope Suunto sort this out before the London!

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Thank you for the info. Do you have any more info to share ? If the problem has been identified ? Any scheduled update to correct the problem ?

Just to say that I have communicated with Suunto support today with a lady who has a Suunto Race and has this issue herself. She tried a few steps to get mine to work and although it did pair again successfully, it instantly loses connection again before completing a sync. (I had tried this myself many times!)
This seems, to me, to be an issue with bluetooth not maintaining the connection for long enough. Hence some small activities will eventually sync but not longer ones as the connection does not continue for a long enough time.
I will share the steps she suggested have worked for some people below. But she says the software team is aware of this known issue and working on an update. Guess we have to just wait! Hopefully before the 21st when I run the London Marathon!
Her steps said:
- Clear Cache > Uninstall App ( Delete the paired watch from the phone and restart the phone )
- Also forget the devices connected to the watch ( In the watch connectivity and soft reset on watch )
- Let it rest for 1 or 2 hour after doing so and then try pairing it.
Good luck!

@NeilCoxon weird with my pixel 8 pro I don’t seem to have this kind of problem
-

that’s the weirdest informatic “procedure” I’ve ever heard
-
Also I noticed that my watch is significantly slower and lagging a lot compared to before the update.
I haven’t found a solution to intall an older firmware. If there is a way please advice.
If not, I think it is in important feature to avoid the problem with not functional latest firmware.

They probably forgot to mention that we also should put our watches on the floor and walk in circles around it singing a magic chant, and preferably it should be done at night during the full moon

Watches are very individual and have their own personal characteristics and peculiarities. Every watch is different …

I had this issue on 30 March, a few days after the update.
Activity was a 40km, 9.5hr hike. It refused to sync.
After numerous soft resets, disconnecting the watch from the app, uninstalling of the app, reinstalling the app, and staring into oblivion pondering my existence and its dependence on technology, it finally synced.
Frustrating but it seems to be fine since.

I think that’s true - After installing latest Beta on Android, my bike ride (1:50h) won’t sync today for the first time ever. Turning off BT, starting Suunto app, closing Suunto app, turning on BT again, starting Suunto app again did the trick, syncing the workout instantly.

Yesterday, I made a short walk just for testing the sync problem. I tried several times to sync the watch with no luck. At the end I was able to sync the activity by let the SA to turn on the bluetooth from inside the program, that is:
check that BT is off
open the SA app
tap on the watch icon
then a message asks to turn on the bluetooth
I tapped the blue message bar on the bottom
then tapped allow to the following message from OS.
The sync performed seamlessly. Will try again in the afternoon after coming back form the gym. -
I have the same problem. iPhone 11. Suunto Race bought it in november. Latest update. Never had the problem before. Started the last few days. What works for me is to restart the watch. Just did with a 60 km bike ride. Very annoying though.

On my side, I had the issue and just waiting for an update from the dev team.
But yesterday without doing anything, it sudently synchronize my activities from the last week
Really strange behavior…

@tellierb Lucky you !!

Nope, I did a simple aerobic workout, no GPS, and the above mentioned procedure didn’t work
I just let the SA trying and after dinner I found the activity synchronized … -
It has been almost 2 weeks since I posted this problem and nothing has happened since. I have tried syncing the watch with several different devices running different operating systems. Lastly I tried Android but got the same result as with the iPhone. The app tries to sync but fails and disconnects after a few seconds. The fact that the Android app shows the same result as the iPhone app suggests that something is wrong with the firmware.
I like Suunto very much, but I do not need to describe how annoying this is. Especially the lack of official information from Suunto. If anyone has any information, please let me know. As far as I can see, the same problem has also been discussed in the Vertical thread, but without a solution.

Hi, i have the same problem…
it just won’t connect to the app when i’m done training…android version 13 -
@Igor-Uvalin Yes, this is a problem that affects many users. Not only the Race, but also the Vertical model has the same issue. It looks like a pretty big problem and I’m surprised that Suunto hasn’t acknowledged it and come up with a solution already.
