Elevation gain very wrong
-
A3P.
Usually it works fine (if it doesn’t lose GSP signal for half hour randomly, that is), but yesterday it went very wrong.
I calculated almost double elevation.
It actually was more like 1100-1200.
Link to activity.Watch was dangling on the backpack strap, very strong winds for top half of the activity.
Any ideas? -
@EagerGoblin it is wind directly hitting the baro sensor.

@Brad_Olwin Hello, if I cover the watch with clothes, does it calculate the height correctly? Or is it better to wear it uncovered Grcaias
-
@EagerGoblin In Ski Touring mode I’ve been getting the same elevation error gains (always too much) on my 9 Peak for a few weeks. When I manually add up the elevation gain per mile it does not add up to the cumulative elevation gain.
Yesterday’s activity lists the total as 4,893 feet but when you add it up manually it’s actually 4,338 feet.

@Carlos97atz if windy, very windy wear under clothes, I get the same data wearing one watch on the outside and one under clothes.

I don’t know if it could be a general problem, but two friends of mine are still using the A3P and the both have had elevations errors those last days…(they live 900km away from each other). No windy runs for them, no cold…
@Brad_Olwin do you think that it could be possible that the gps chipset was affected by some setting on satellites or gps signal ?For me it could also be a barometric sensor failure (happened to me twice, had to make it replaced, that what made me change for the S9b).
But even if it is the A3P weakness, I’ve find strange that both of my friend had the same issue at the perfect same time… -
@Tieutieu Definitely strange and do not know. I have not used my Ambit in a long time. With newer watches only high winds are an issue for me.
