Ambit 2 no longer connecting to Suunto Link
-
Hello,
I have an Ambit 2. It will not connect to Suunto link. I have tried all troubleshooting suggested, soft reset on watch, uninstall reinstall Suunto link, tried on a mac and windows laptop. The Ambit will charge ok in the lap or a plug outout
When I plug it in the laptop Suunto link does not do anything. It stays on the homepage. The cable is fine, pins are fine. Nothing changed from that side and things have worked for many years. I wonder is it’s updates on Mac and Windows…
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

@nharrison Is the Ambit USB device visible in Windows device manager and macOS System Information? Even if watch charges normally, it could still be a hardware problem with watch or cable.

@nharrison are you sure cable is fine? I did connect my ambit 1 some days ago and it worked.
What windows/macos did you use? -
@Raimo-Järvi thanks for the reply - Yep I can see the watch in device manager and system info. MAC OS is Catalina, 10.15.7 and Windows 10

@André-Faria - Thanks for the reply. I can’t be sure it’s not cable but it just seems strange. Nothing happened the cable or watch that caused any damage.
The os for each is MAC OS is Catalina10.15.7 and Windows 10

@nharrison If device is shown normally in macOS and Windows, my guess would be a problem in the watch. You could drain the watch battery by leaving it on until battery runs out, it’s not likely to fix the problem but worth trying.
You could click “Send logs to Suunto” in SuuntoLink and send me the log ID, that may give some information about the problem.

@Raimo-Järvi - I DM’ed you the logs ID. Also the strangest thing happened. When I plugged it in to get the logs everything is working as usual. I didn’t do anything or change anything…Maybe there is something the logs around why it did not work?
Thanks

@nharrison Thank you, I checked the logs. Your Ambit is first detected at 2024-Feb-05 10:59, I assume that’s when it mysteriously started working. Before that there is nothing in the log, and no indication of detecting the watch, no errors either. Because device is shown in macOS and Windows, I expected there would be at least some errors. Strange indeed, my guess would still be some hardware problem, but I don’t know how it would cause this behaviour.

@Raimo-Järvi thanks for checking. Let’s see if it happens again. In 9 years this is the only issue I have had… Maybe it’s almost time to upgrade
