Is it possible to add Countdown timer for intervals?
-
Hi,
When you are create a new activity with a interval run, the ideal way is to countdown the timer during each interval and Sunnto race not doing this is very confusing. The developers are expecting the runners to do the math while running? This is so basic I am surprised that an old company like Sunnto does not provide this.
Any simple way to do this would be greatly apperitiated.
Thanks,

@Sivaram-Kannan 100% agree with you.

Sorry for hijacking this, Siva, maybe I’ saying the same… anyway I’d like to add something without opening another topic:
I’m doing an interval training, say 4 minutes of running and 2 minutes of walking in between, for 5 times; it should be very useful having the possibility to know how many times are left to complete the training, like a message stating 1/5, 2/5, 3/5 and so on…
Maybe I’m wrong or I’m saying the same as Siva but I can’t see this…
Thanks,

@fabula670 100% agree with you too.

@Sivaram-Kannan Both of these points need to be implemented, seems pretty basic to me.

@fabula670 we want the samething. Is it possible to create new Structured Workout with countdown timer? When I try to create a new structured workout, I see the error saying I can have only about 20 structured workouts max and asking me to delete some of them. Things that were breeze with Coros pace 2 are so hard with Race

just had a chat with the sunnto support, they confirmed that countdown timer is not available even if you create a new structured workout

Absolutely agree - plus it would actually be nice to see what the watch is saying. For such a large screen, the inability to change the font size or just have two data fields is not ideal.

There have been loads of good suggestions for improving structured workouts in this forum including:
- giving the next stage info and a 5 second countdown rather than changing step without warning
- giving feedback when you are outside of a step target such as hr or pace (like you get with normal targets)
- the option to see the details of a workout before selecting it
- the option to see the next step before it activates
This suggestion is another really good one and I hope the developers are seeing this feedback.
All credit to them though, Suunto’s implementation for structured workouts is actually very good internally. Having read the info on what you can do with structured workouts they are really flexible. You can control the data fields shown per-step (including the ordering), you can conditionally skip steps or repeat steps and you can trigger the progress to the next step based on a number of criteria. It would be great if more of this was exposed in the workout builder and used by third-parties - and the option to start with a third-party workout and then modify it would be very cool.
One thing that might help specifically with knowing which interval you are on could be to add the lap count field to one of the other data screens. I know it will count the recovery steps as well but at least it will give you some indication.
