I would imagine that to mean slower updates to the beta channel, due to increased internal testing, caused by a larger user base (ie harder to marshall through a beta program).

Yes, i think it’s a problem of identity of alpha and beta.
We want to test alpha software but Suunto want us to test beta. -
@Mi_chael I’m OK with a stable beta.
(I define stable beta as ‘software works, doesn’t crash, but some last polishing and edge-case detection required’. I define alpha as ‘probably crashes a bit, code compiles and executes but logic still needs thorough testing’.)
-
If I have the choice I prefer test alpha software with many updates…even if it’s stable.
-
The difference with Alpha to beta apart from what @Ze-Stuart mentioned:
- Sometimes in Alpha there are features that might not come, or “easter eggs”
- Sometimes in Alpha there can be serius mistakes. App not opening etc
- Sometimes in Alpha there can be users loosing their activities. Due to wrong syncs etc.
- In Alpha there is logging enabled that does send user identifiers to resolve the issue. This requires consent and NDA.
IMO it’s ok as it is now. FYI at some point, you were all alpha.
To add some even more complexity to this is that there is also internal versions. (not dev versions)

I like easter eggs…!!!

There is a change : you can sync à route created in the Suuntoapp to the watch.
-
@jannis yup route sync and sport modes.
People asked for updates here, we hidden some stuff that can break your watch and app, in order to give you also the small things one by one.
Please do remember people that this is an OPEN public beta.
-
Unfortunately the sport modes was not actually there, a compilation flag was not in correct boolean value. I have to add a comment to the release note
-
@Jouko-from-Suunto we have something new for iOS?? or you are talking about Android updates?
-
I have not got a request from our dev team to push new version for iOS yet, I’ve asked if there is a need though. Android 3.40.0 was pushed to beta this week. Sure there are new things also in iOS side, like the custom sport modes coming to mention the obvious one that I had understood incorrectly to be in the 3.40.0 Android one.
-
@Jouko-from-Suunto you are better to speed up things as 33 days left and testflight will expire latest version and we wont be able to use beta app at all.
-
[Joke On]
Hey iOS men, you are waiting for an update since weeks, when Android users have waited months for the first release
[Joke Off][Joke On bis]
There is a post for Disapointed Android users
[Joke Off]Really read this post as joke, maybe bad, but really nothing against iOS.
-
@SlaSh I’m pretty sure we get a new version for iOS in less than 33d, but a valid point and noted.
