During tens of minutes long process of downloading map I would like to see

      • progress of downloading
      • battery info
      • time

I think it is standard expectation, what do you think? I am ex Suunto 7 user and I found Race as a excellent watch (display, battery, Suunto plus). Unfortunately some UI elements are not done well. I will not repeat them, it is mentioned in other threads

@Tomas-Fejfar This has been commented on as well. All of the information you want to see is in the app. Simply open the app tap the watch icon on the upper left and open Online Maps.
        There you can see

        1. Progress of downloading
        2. Not battery info—obviously your watch is charging! If you press the middle button of the watch you will see the current time and you can observe the charge while downloading.
        3. Time, that is on your phone as well.

          Thank you, @Brad_Olwin,

it’s a pity that the lack of will to improve these elements. Believe me, after my experience with wear OS, I see quite a lot of such opportunities for improvement, and it is a pity not to develop such a great watch with an excellent application. A similar approach in times of strong competition is not good. The existing customer group is certainly wide, but it must grow for the development of the company. But I am neither a shareholder nor an employee of Suunto. I’m just a customer who wanted to help.

@Tomas-Fejfar I think this is user-dependent. I for one do not need a smartwatch. I would use an Apple Watch for that.
For me personally (not an opinion of Suunto) I see these as requests that do not improve the function of the watch. There are many more important features that I would prefer to see enabled.

            1. A zoomable route elevation profile that is color coded according to grade.
            2. A list of waypoints on a route with remaining distance to the next waypoint.
            3. A method in the App to plan training with predictors for TSS and CTL.

For me the Suunto 7 lacked many features including importing training, the ability to set up workouts and far too short on battery life.

@Brad_Olwin a progress bar would be nice. I am wondering just how much longer the download will take. I assume it is to the watch. but ambiguity is not good.

@VaineRT I just noticed this thread after I just went through the process of downloading 2 map regions of Spain for an upcoming trip.

The progress bar is in the app. The watch also indicates map downloading. There is no need for battery information as it needs to be on the charger for the process.

Both regions took about an hour, while I sat at my desk working.

During the download time, I also loaded 8 cycling gpx routes in those regions.

Personally, I did not find the process confusing. Perhaps ‘time left in download’ could help though?

I think the current solution is ok. Sometimes you have multiple maps being downloaded, and the app allows you to see which one(s) have been completed, which ones have to be started, and the progress on the current map. Showing all this on a tiny screen would be hard.
