Ambit 3 Peak: purchase suggestion
-
@isazi @G-Q thanks, @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos already reported that to devs, they’ll take a look
-
@isazi thanks, the issue has been already reported in the SL4 thread
-
@jasmin-klipic Then you should know that devs do not play any role in what gets fixed/done and when

well not sure what gives you a right to comment…based on WHAT, I have 3 of them…and as IT guy I have not just opinion as user but also as professional, and experience since > 5 Y
I have the right to do whatever I want, mr IT guy. Or do you want me to ask you permission mr IT guy?
NO, but not having a A3P your statements are absolutely unqualified and not relevant
Or do you want to see my CV? It’s online
NO, I don’t have any interest in you
You said “SA is bullsh… and it was from beginning”, it is a general statement, unless you meant that in your opinion “SA is bullsh… and it was from beginning” and other people can enjoy it, and use it, and maybe even like it.
For me, and for sure any A3P owner…and that’s not what we deserve after paying so much for this overpriced product
I see you are moderator…I have opened 3 posts about issues with SA SL4 …so far no reaction/replay on them…but when I say… SA is garbage then I got within a minute some response .WHAT?
As a moderator I keep track of spamming, that’s it. For the rest, I can comment on what I want as everyone else. I do not comment on your other posts because I do not have an Ambit so cannot help you.
Moderators are just users voted as moderators by other users in this same forum. We are not Suunto.thank you for the info, as long we don’t need to communicate I will chose not to continue on this from rn.

After one month of intensive use I am quite satisfied with the choice I made and I would also like to add that the A3P is second to none in the field ;-P. Even the new HRM chest strap is really good and I love the memory function feature. I forgot to mention that SA and SL4 work very well!

Wonderful to hear, I still have an A3P sitting on my shelf that occasionally gets used for testing…I am addicted to my S9Peak:)
-
@brad_olwin your A3P deserves better usage :). The simplicity and power of this watch make me enjoy every single time I wear it.

As I stated, I prefer the 9Peak. I can list the reasons, there are many but a couple of the most important
- Distance to waypoint and end of route is as drawn, on A3P the distance is direct as a bird flies, not as drawn.
- HR zone info on a ring so no need for HR data.
- FusedTrack: with long battery life (1 min to 2 min GPS fix) my tracks are virtually indistinguishable from 1 sec fix. Not so with A3P.
-
@brad_olwin I didn’t mean to be argumentative …
Anyway I’ve noted that A3P behaves very well in dense woods with plenty of snow on the branches maybe even better than [I do not mean to be argumentative] -

For my uses it had shortcomings that were problematic. Very happy you like it!

Am tempted for one of these or a Traverse, so that I can have one ‘bike mounted’ watch
-
@wakarimasen
my suggestion, FWIW, is Ambit 3 Peak, way more accurate than Traverse, lasts longer.
I say this because a friend of mine loaned me a Traverse and I used it extensively for 2 months.
That said both are well managed by SA and SL4. -
Are the batteries replaceable? By the way, I just bought one

You mean is it user-replaceable, serviceable or filled with compound to be never opened again? It’s made to be serviceable. Though one’s access to tools, testing equipment and spares could make all the difference regarding if it’s also (economically) feasible - it might be cheaper to just get another 2nd hand watch vs sending old one to service center or hunting for spares and buying yourself a pressure tester.

well done, you will not regret the purchase
-
@margusl I’d be interested in what the service charge is!
-
@g-q Looking forward to receiving it!

@wakarimasen I changed the battery of my Ambit 1 eons ago and honestly I don’t remember the price (still affordable). The thing that struck me the most is that Suunto also changed the bezel (it was terribly damaged) without asking me more.
-
@wakarimasen , https://forum.suunto.com/topic/5816/change-the-battery-ambit-2 might give you an idea of what to expect.
For a comparison, currently FB marketplace lists three used Ambit3 watches in 70-80€ range in my area, 2 of those are A3P Saphire HR kits, though no idea about battery condition.

That’s great - thanks!
