Body resource meter issue?

The first months I used the sleep monitor and body resources it seemed to work quite well and in tune with my own perception of my energy. Now it still records the sleep times well, but 9 of of 10 mornings it tells me that I didn’t sleep good and that I have gained just a little energy. So now I find it totally useless.

@g-q I would also add that when I put the watch on charge body resources sometimes increase from ~10% to 50% and more

@mcsolaar If your HR readings over the night make sense, then the strap should be ok.
Have you adjusted your resting and maximum heart rate in the Suunto Wear App settings? A too low value for the resting HR will make the watch think you are never resting.
If you have an average sleep HR of 64bpm, try setting your resting HR to maybe 65 or 67. -
@egika That’s an interesting advice cause apparently I have never adjusted the resting HR rate. Now I found it in the watch and it was at 60 bpm, which seems lowish. Set it at 65, will see if that helps. Thanks again for this idea!

Thanks for pointing this out, however it’s not always set to 50%. Right now I’ve removed the watch from the charge and my body resource data keeps decreasing starting from the value I had before the charge

@g-q …which probably means it had self-calibrated immediately and went down to your actual metrics

@g-q Yep, will test it over next couple of days and nights, but I guess at least in my particular case it might be a sensible solution. If we assume my resting hr was set too low, this also explains why I’ve never observed resource gain during a day, while e.g. reading a book on a sofa etc. HR was low but probably not that low…

@mcsolaar the resting HR setting has been discussed before. Maybe you can find the topic. It should be the HR you get, when sitting in a comfortable chair doing nothing but relaxing. Then the algo can work out your resources better.

I’m pretty sure it worked well past weeks (what you say it happened).Just in these days it’s started having a tantrum

@egika I used the method that somebody commented in other topic sometime ago, I not remember if @olymay or @Jamie-BG, that is to create an Indoor activity inmediately after wake up, and I use this time to made some breath exercises for about 10 minutes. I take this Avg. HR of the activity as my Resting Hearth Rate and works for me.
I not get 100% of resources everyday, but I use as reference only, because if not next step will be plug me a USB-C on my… -
@flypg - think it was probably @olymay who may have suggested how to get RHR when i reckoned it was super important.
Personally I think the bigger question should be is when will the S7 be updated with updated firstbeat sleep algorithms as I know the Garmins have had a couple of recent tweaks and the resource gain is definitely a much better estimate than what is on the S7.

@mcsolaar I have gone through this Body resources exercise extensively and my conclusion is after a while wearing the watch religiously over night and day it will work out the good body resources better.
Also, I noticed that after a full restore to the watch it yielded to a better tracking.
Let me explain, I went on a holiday and I used this period as a monitoring phase of my stress level and body resources. My findings are:
Being active all day long and feeling shuttered by 7pm resulted in 1.5 hours of stress whilst working from home resulted in 6/7 hours stress this does impact your body resources throughout the day massively. Night time, despite finishing my day close to 20% body resources, a good night sleep resulted in a high HRV, indeed this explains why my recovery overnight was high.
My take on body resources is if the watch is worn snug enough and measuring HR accurately it will produce accurate data.
What’s would be beneficial is for Suunto to include a new tab in the Suunto app to display HRV reading plotted in to a graph over a 24h period. The information is translated to body resources metrics but one could argue that seeing the number of variability is better then just a an interpretation.
The Apple watch offer a breathe app that allow you to take an instant HRV reading.
