Suunto 7, worse GPS information and activity data in my life from Suunto Wear App
-
@flypg next time wait 3 minutes when you get the gps signal to asure fix the satellites.
@bulkan yes, thanks, I always do, I open the SWA when I start preparing to ride and before starting the activity I verify that the GPS icon is fixed, and normally I start the activity after 1000-1500mts of ride that is when I go out of the massive transit.
EDIT: Could’t be this the problem, because the Adidas Running app displays all the info and track correctly and with this app I not waited any lapse because is not my main app and I don’t worried about the results.Do you have a link to the activity? DM if you prefer instead of public link.

Are you sure you didn’t go at 60,5km/h of average, aren’t you?
just kidding in the last oneon my dreams
I also have a Max Speed of almost 115km/h on an Inline Skate activity, I take the speed seriusly … -
I could confirm that the problem is the Suunto Wear app when running together with the Adidas Running app. This last app, works perfect, but for some reason, Suunto Wear app goes crazy.
The most strange of this is that on the tests that I did this weekend, the problem is presented only in Mountain Bike Sport Mode, but on Ruuning no. I did a Running activity today with a both apps working at the same time. Data is almost the same. But on my test from yesterday with MTB if run together the SWA give bad information. On the same day I stopped the Adidas Ruuning app and put to run only the SWA and everthing was OK again.I already sent the logs to Suunto.
I already sent the Bug Report zip file to @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos just in case that be useful. In case that need that I run more test, feel free to let me know.
Some data: MTB segment from yesterday
Suunto Wear app: 61.29km / Duration: 1:16:49 / Max Speed: 47.9km/h
Again the HR data graphic it’s OK but the track on the map only displays the first 1000-1500mts of this actity.
Adidas Ruuning app: 25.77km / Duration: 1:13:45 (auto-pause difference) / Max Speed: 29.5km/hCheers,

@flypg It is possible the apps are competing for sensors. I know on Apple watches you cannot run two distinct exercise apps due to this issue. I would not be surprised if this was a problem and both apps cannot access the sensors when they need to or Adidas wins. Why run both? Why not export to Adidas if you need to?
-
@brad_olwin Thank you! Wow, I did not know it.
In that case would be very strange on Android. I used for years on an Android tablets and mobiles multiples apps that use the GPS, barometric sensor, and others at the same time without problems. More when HR, for example, is perfect and and SWA count extra kilometers but not draw on the map the track.
But this is WearOS and can be possible, I don’t know.Yes, thank you, but like I explain in an other thread, I know that I can get the same connecting the Suunto Partner Service connection, but I would not like to share all my activities with Adidas, because of this I created this Feature Suggestion. And because by my experience with other apps and devices this not cause any problem, but maybe yes…
-
@flypg You could allow the sharing and just delete the activities from Adidas that you do not want to share. This is how I do it with Strava, I delete a lot of activities from Strava mainly because I often wear 2-3 watches at one time. Easier to let the automatic syncing occur and just delete.
-
@brad_olwin yes, thank you, perhaps this can be the best option and also in terms of battery life. Likewise it’s weird, a multitasking device that couldn’t be used like this
-
@flypg I really don’t think its a true multi-tasking device - I think pretty much like android, it just often more suspends apps in the background. You have to remember that its Ram is pretty limited, and the system uses up a lot i…e 0.5GB ram watches do have stutters and lags and that is just when using it normally.
-
@jamie-bg I not agree. All of these lags, etc, that you mention, not happen to me. In fact it does it perfectly with my Running activities, even when I also have running in background all the services, the Exercise Timer app, the Baro Trend app and others. On my tests the problem is only with MTB sport mode, maybe Ciclying also but I don’t tested until now.
Even this is not a problem for me, I love my S7 and I reported here just in case that this is a bug that could be fixed. Not have sense that I can run a lot of apps in simultaneous, even the same app and in one Sport Mode cause problems, this is not a device hardware limitation I think. But we always looks for more features in our devices, if Suunto give us 20, we want 30, but this not means that I’m criticizing the device negatively, again, S7 do everything in a good way on my usage and even this that I reported in this thread, that’s why it surprises me.
For sure the approach that @Brad_Olwin recommend me is the best, I’m a bit lazzy to have to delete activities, etc, but is the best approach for now. I’m not a fan of publish my activities on mutiples services, enough with SA and SportsTracker
-
I have successfully run the Suunto Wear app and Ghostracer both recording an GPS activity at the same time. I had no problems. So if there are problems running the Suunto Wear app and the Adidas app at the same time, I would say that the problem probably is the Adidas app.
-
@aeroild Maybe possible… but… would be the Adidas app in the case that Adidas app not create a complete and good record of the activity, but always do it in the right way. The SWA no, depending of the type of activity. In fact, as I already mention, I also run multiples apps without problem, this is a exceptional case I believe.
-
@flypg if somehow the Adidas app locks the sensor, then yes, Adidas would always provide a good track and the Suunto app no.
-
@isazi only for MTB? strange, but possible…
PS- Just in case, posted on Adidas app also -
Adidas/Runtastic taked the easy exit…
“Thank you for contacting us.
We don’t intentionally block GPS resources, but we do not recommend running two tracking apps simultaneously, each device has its own battery optimisation that may affect the result.” -
@isazi Not only happen to me, from Reddit, but using Nike Run app.
“Ran both nike run app, suunto and played music via navmusic for 30 minute run. For some reason suunto app only recorded half of my exercise. Might try again tomorrow if it is giving issues if i run two apps at the same time… also seems there is no way to get data across both platforms, only strava possible.”
