S9P software update 2.18.18 questions

Hi,
What “improved altitude readings” means exactly ?
By the way, the new ASC algo seems very good after 2 activities compared to my S7.
-
@kramble I think that it fixes problems with hills repetitions. In long uphill / downhill distances, calculations were OK, but users reported underestimation for small hills activities, if I am not mistaken.
-
@efejota I think what you’re talking about is the “new ascent descent algorithm”…
-
@kramble so in addition to improved ascent and descent calculation, current altitude is updated “faster”. Result in less lag from reaching a point to have the altimeter catch up.
-
@isazi Does this concern barometric or GPS-based altitude, or both, or FusedAlti? I’m still a bit confused how the displayed altitude during an activity is actually determined…
-
@guenthi in this case the improvement is on the barometric side.
-
@isazi Great ! Thanks

I really want this new algo for the S9B!! Come on Suunto, you can do it!!

i want it as well for my spartan, including fusedalti along the activity and not just at start.

-
@isazi thanks, I obviously mistake both questions. I did not notice this one.
-
Has anyone tested the new asent algorithm with poles ?
-
@kramble Yes, it seems fine for me, no issues with poles.
