is a system update coming ?
-
I always forget to stop and start my watch when I am doing a long running then I usually see it is stopped after a few km afterwards I can feel my race didn´t have sense at all hehe. That feature would be very appreciated but I am using it every single days (7 days per week with double workouts thirst per week) doing fast intervals and have to check the watch when I am reaching the distance is very very hard when I am tired… It works fine … but the possibility to create a custom workouts from our suunto 7 (as garmin has with most of the models) or even define the auto lap could get us happy guys.

Just getting the ‘hype train’ moving again (just for a bit of fun and chat, this is in no way intended to pester the developers).
The last S7 update was in April and we are now in September. Do we think an update is coming?
As @Nigel-Taylor-0 mentioned in a previous comment, the past updates for the S7 were…
2020 - end of January - early April - late June - early September
2021 - mid Jan - mid April - …
Fingers crossed

@olymay I’m with you. I’m really hoping to get a way to record naps and multiple sleep sessions pr day. I unfortunately often sleep for example from 21-01 and again from 04-07. It kinda works sometimesif I manage not to touch the watch in the awake period. Another thing I’d love would be strength training auto recognition, like Google Fit had.

If an update is coming, please let it be an option for sensor support.
The wrist-hr is most of the time useless when cycling… -
@jantikainen I am looking for something like this:
https://www.qooapps.com/sporty-go-connect.html“You want to use the HR from your samsung watch or live data from “Sporty Go!” on your phone, spinbike or treadmill?”
It could be very handy to avoid use a hr band when we are going cycling… but still not available for android.

@cristian-0 there are a few apps available for this already. e.g. this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lukas.the.coder.heartforbluetooth&hl=en_US

@cristian-0 New software version available. Nothing new, just regular security update. link text

Suunto Wear services – 2.112.0
Suunto Watch faces – 1.13.0

System update – PXDZ.210326.002.A2The following versions of Suunto components are included in the update:
Suunto Wear app – 2.150.0
Suunto Wear services – 2.112.0
Suunto Watch faces – 1.13.0
MDSP – 2.112.0Hopefully behind that small change on the suunto wear app (2.151.0 - 2.150.0) it could still be plenty of new features. I haven’t been able to download it yet but my dreams are there hehehe.
-
@cristian-0 I’ve just updated but I do not see any news in the Suunto Wear app… but no news are always good news
-
@walker same here. Can’t se any changes to the Suunto app.
Security patch is now at Juli 2021.
-
As I would normally expect this sort of update (security patch etc) to be part of any larger update, does this mean that a larger update is not coming any time soon?
-
@olymay last update with new features was in April. Maybe the way Google is handling Wear 3.0 has made Suunto rethink wether or not the S7 makes sense for them.
-
@aleksander-h I really hope not.
Also, Suunto don’t seem like the type of company to abandon all of the time and money invested into the S7 quite so easily. I would have thought (hoped?) that WearOS 3 would have excited them with what it can achieve.
The Suunto 7 was my first Suunto and I bought it because it was a WearOS device with Suunto’s excellent fitness smarts onboard. For me, it is more important to have the WearOS part, as I want a full smartwatch that can also do fitness, not a fitness watch that does a few phone notifications.
I love being part of the Suunto family and really don’t want it to endPlease Suunto, don’t abandon the 7.
-
@olymay Same goes for me. Suunto is really on a great track with the last updates. Unfortunately for Suunto my expectation is that the trend continues. „Only“ a security patch as an update is behind what they gave us with the last updates. Please Suunto give us some cool new features/improvements. I know we just recently received Spotify offline music. But I am more interested in the Suunto app itself.

5 Months waiting.and we didn’t get of the suggested changes… it is a bad joke. the original price was over 500…Thanks Suunto!

I’m not sure how you can say it is a joke when the S7 has received more updates than any other WearOS device on the market. Has better build quality, the best fitness software, stunning screen, and best battery life (yes, even better than the TWP3).
Whereas companies like Fossil churn out low quality devices that fall apart within a few months, offer minimal support and barely any updates. Only to replace them in under a year and then forget they ever existed.
Suunto have now supported the S7 for over 18 months with regular substantial updates. Yes, it has been a while since the last update, but I strongly believe there will be more to come and that it will be worth the wait.
Original price of over 500? A currency would certainly be handy, because if you are talking about 500 acorns then it is a bargain!!
In the UK it launched at £420 and was worth it for the quality and features and ongoing support. -
@cristian-0 we got more updates than I would have expected to be honest. And if we aren’t getting any more (that’s an if), I’m very glad they’re still doing security patches.
-
@olymay I could do a list of the very basics things this watch doesn’t have and we can even find in any other sport watch or even in vintage sportwatch… but you are a gold member… I don’t really think I have to enum you the missing features. I love this watch and the maps feature does this watch almost unique but it is still incomplete.
This forum is full of request and seem nobody is listening to the users.
-
@cristian-0 I don’t think Suunto is obliged to deliver some features to you just because you requested them.
Each thing costs to be developed. Quite a lot actually.

OK, go on then. But I will save you some time, as if you are referring to external sensor support etc, then it does work with the watch. Yes, you have to use a different app, but that is one of the strengths of any WearOS device, if it doesn’t do everything you want out of the box, there is almost certainly an app for it.
And don’t forget, this is a smartwatch, not a sportwatch.but you are a gold member… I don’t really think I have to enum you >the missing features.
You leave my member out of this
But in all seriousness, I am only a gold member because I have made lots of posts on this forum. Some compliments, some complaints, some suggestions, some help for other members.I love this watch and the maps feature does this >watch almost unique >but it is still incomplete.
It is the most complete of any WearOS device I have seen (and I have used quite a few of them!). I say it is even more complete than the new Samsung, mainly because it doesn’t lose features if you use a non-Samsung phone (as long as it’s Android, obviously).
This forum is full of request and seem nobody is listening to the customers.
Suunto do listen and they do respond. For example, the issue of external sensors was explained by not wanting to affect battery life. Which judging the impact of using Bluetooth headphones with the watch, is a serious hit.
Yes, I would like to have the option. But Suunto have made their decision and explained it.
