Ambit 3 Peak as a Backup?
-
Hello Folks,
I have a S9B and am a very happy user.
I wondered about getting an Ambit 3 Peak as a backup for navigation activities, so I can track the activity on my S9B, but use the Ambit 3 Peak just for the route, and guidance.
Is it mad, or reasonable?

@wakarimasen if anything, it should better be the other way around I think. S9 has waypoints, zoom in map view, turn by turn navigation. A3p only supports POIs I think + I’m not sure of syncing routes to a3p is as easy as with s9.

@wakarimasen As someone who just did an 8-day trekking with an S9B, I would say mad. The S9B is so much easier to sync (Komoot or Suunto app) and has turn by turn.
I did use an A3P before this for navigation purposes, but back then I needed to keep my phone at hand with maps.me for offline maps. I didn’t need a phone backup at all with the S9B. -
Mad it is then - thanks for the feedback! I’ll stick with the S9B and quietly covet a S9P!

Why not an S7 as companion with maps? I use that combo in family hikes and enjoy it a lot.

Interesting idea. I was thinking originally of a cheap and cheerful old school model!

@wakarimasen I’ve seen refurbished S7 for 150 Euros on ebay not so long ago. I think they generally droped in price, since Android Wear 3 was announced.
-
@dmytro I think I might keep an eye on eBay - thanks!

@wakarimasen hello,
I own the A3P and I went for a refurbished S7 to come full circle. IMHO I do not see any vantage to buy the A3P if you already own the wonderful S9B. My 3 cents, of course.
best, -
@wakarimasen I agree with the others here, the S7 would be an addition adding a lot of extra features and as long as you don’t need more than ~15h of continuous GPS tracking it will serve as a backup.
