Difference between Activity total ascent and Sum up SP Climb Hill
-
Hi Suunto community,
During my trail activity this morning I noticed on my S9P a gap between the activity total ascent and the ascent of each hill read on the Suunto Plus Climb Hill screen.
(The weather was good with no atmospheric variation)
At each climb, the Suunto Plus Climb Hill ascent seems to match perfectly with my expectation based on the main altitude field at the down and at the top of the hill, but the Activity total ascent misses from 2 to 5 meters each time.
At the end after 11 climbs in 2 hours, when I sum up mentally the Suunto Plus Clim Hill screen ascent of each climb I found 683 m but the Activity total ascent show me 645m (And for me it matters a lot )
Furthermore the record of my activity on the Suunto App show the shorter ascents on each climb rather than Suunto Plus Clim Hill ascents viewed on my screen during the activity.
I know that there is a link with the 3m increment of the algorithm of ascent calculating and I read that you, @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos, are working on a fix with rolling hills.
Is that the same issue ?
Why do not “trust” the SP climb hill ascent field ?By the way, thanks to Dimitrios (off course) and Isazi, Brad… for your precious help on this forum.

@kramble yes. Next firmware should improve that quite a lot.

@kramble for example if your hill is 41m then due to the 3m chuncks the last 2m (40, 41) might not get recorded if you don’t pass 41meters. Does it make sense ?
So in 11 repeats you loose 2x11 meters

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos it makes totally sense , except I am pretty sure to have several times a difference superior to 2 meters like 3, 4 and maybe 5 meters.
