      Re: Screen protector?

I recently bought a s7 and after 10 days I already have some scratches on the screen due to small contacts with other objects.
Obviously I will buy a screen protector, but in my opinion it is too easy to scratch the screen!
      It is very fragile.

That’s a bummer! I do know that the Sapphire Crystal is generally regarded as the best in terms of being scratch-proof, I’m not gentle with my S9B and it’s had daily use over the last 15 months of me owning it. Hasn’t got a single mark or scratch on the screen despite a couple of heavy falls on single track trails whilst running.

I don’t profess to know too much about the Gorilla Glass that’s used on the S7, but am fairly certain it’s not going to be as tough or as scratch resistant as Sapphire Crystal. I have a couple of friends that have the Wahoo Elemnt Rival watch and they both have a few small scratches on their screens - again that model is using the Gorilla Glass rather than Sapphire Crystal. Maybe there’s a way that they could be buffed out, looking at your photo they don’t look like they’re too deep which could be a good thing

Silly question, but it worth the shame to ask :), could it be that initial Suunto Screen protector is still on your watch ?

@silvio-persico that’s definitely a shame! It might sound counterintuitive to put a screen protector on after it has been scratched, but if the scratches aren’t too deep then the adhesive of the screen protector can sometimes fill the gaps and effectively make them invisible. You’ll also have a protector against further scratches.
Get a tempered glass protector, not a plastic one. And the screen is the same size as the S9, so any protector for the S9 (or baro) will fit.

You seem to have been unlucky though, I’ve had mine since May 2020 and have not been gentle with it. Due to the position of my front door, my watch often clonks a brick wall when I open/close it (I’ve scratched three watches since living in the house and even smashed one completely) but the S7 has some chunks taken out of the bezel, but the screen is still looking perfect.

It might not be sapphire (shame, but I can understand due to costs) but it seems pretty hardy to me.

I have the opposite impression: I never used a screen protector on my watches or mobiles. When I bought the S7 I was afraid of that and now that I have had it for about 10 months and I have had multiple falls while riding my MTB, also fall on inline skate, or hit an obstacle and nothing. But I know it is a matter of luck and how it impacts, because sometimes a small impact breaks the screen completely. Always I think that some scratches are a sign of good use and good adventures, It is like a cookbook without food stains… 🙂
