Suunto 9 Peak
-
Also no pre order button yet
-
@lexterm77 You mean the US? I thought Canadian lady has sorted you out. The pre-orders are available in Mexico. Maybe I should plan a trip there and pick the watch up while at it. Just got a handful of Caribbean vacation emailsā¦

How much is titanium version resistant to scratches?
-
@dulko79 until it has scratches
All jokes aside, there are different grades of titanium. Without exact specs itās hard to tell Iām afraid.
But maybe an expert can tell us more. -
@nickk
I was referring to s9b purchase when it came out, pre order button did not exist. Same problem now, why should I ping pong between voice mails when I should just click pay and wait!
-
@surfboomerang thatās why I am asking.
-
@lexterm77 No argument there. Itās as if Suunto didnāt want our money
-
@dulko79 YMVV. My nearly 3 year old titanium S9B is like new, though admittedly it is almost exclusively used for street and simple trail running, nothing drastic. Only a few weeks of daily wear in total.
My Fenix 6X Solar has a number of scruffs, mostly invisible, after about 4 months of daily use and training, but this is due to it being silver bezel variant.
My Vertix Space Gray, on the other hand, has several scratches after just a month of daily use and training. Apparently, DLC isnāt all itās cracked out to be.
No, Iām not a person who hits the walls and other obstacles with their watchesā¦ On a typical day.
Bottom line: if you get black or painted titanium, even DLC, expect scratches. Same goes for silver version, but scruffs will be far less visible there. Titanium doesnāt really offer much in terms of protection, more like less weight.

Grade 5 titanium is referred to oxide content must be less than 0.2% and alloys that do not cause you a skin rash like stainless steel with its nickel, it does not mean it is scratch proof. It is medical grade metal with great anti corrosive properties. If you want less scratches you need heat treatment, which would add to a cost but it is doable if you want to wait and pay minimum charge for a batch which is several times the cost of a watch at your local metal heat treatment plant/forge.
-
@nickk
Because they know you will go trough troubles to get it
-
@lexterm77 like the DCL than uses Garmin?
-
@lexterm77 launch times are different per county
-
Thats not heat treatment thats cheap coating.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I think what @lexterm77 is referring to is the same shipping start estimate of June 17, but with no pre-order button in the US or Canada (thereās one in Mexico). Around 7:00 EST there was also āout of stockā shown next to the watchā¦
-
@nickk I asked for you guys , and the response was that preorders start later in some countries. I donāt know why.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos Much obliged! While we have your attentionā¦ Should we expect snap-to-track feature make it to S7 or S9B? Or will it remain exclusive to Peak?
-
@nickk Thanx for comparison.
-
@nickk technically itās portable to the s9b I would assume (remember I donāt work at the watch OS).
I have good faith it will.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos we know if there will be suunto peak bigger size?
-
@dulko79
more than 1.5 years of daily use. not only skitouring and mountain bike, but also some planks on concreteā¦
I was pretty amazed when I noticed the first signs of wear
sorry for the bad pic qualityā¦ still waiting for my pixel
