Suunto 7 not updating

Make sure watch is at least 80% charged (can do with less, but always a good idea to be well charged).go into wear os app on phone and disconnect. Switch off phone bluetooth.
go into watch (should show cloud symbol at top of watch face reflecting no bluetooth connection). Go into settings - connectivity - bluetooth and switch off bluetooth. Go into connectivity settings - wifi and switch on wifi and make sure its connected (in quick settings - swipe from top of screen down) should see a wifi icon show active connection.
Now try firware update. I check update, then go back a screen (swipe left to right), then press update again. I do that twenty times (normally gives update by then), if not wait an hour or so and try again. If still no luck keep trying every couple of hours or leave to next day.

@lord-víctor In your case you need to wait until next Thursday.
May I know where did you buy the watch? Is it second hand?

Sorry now I see that you bought it at MediaMarkt.

@jamie-bg Thanks a lot, I am from Germany, bought the watch at Suunto and try since Tuesday to update my watch, without any success.
Your workaround helped, update found on the first try.
I am really disappointed about this poor programming from Suunto! -
@saemoliv sorry- but why is this poor programming by suunto?
This setup is all wear os (google) got nothing to do with suunto in how you get to systen update etc.
If referring to having to manually request update - if you wait long enough it will send a notification.
If referring to why it doesn’t recognize immeadiately - not sure whose fault as not sure if that is software / server and who is responsible for which. -
@jamie-bg it’s not recognized automatically because the update is staged
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos Bought Suunto 7 for 7 hours now and been pressing ‘System update’ for more than 700 times without luck. So frustating!
-
@jamie-bg Yea ive been trying for days now and still nothing, im not even that bothered about getting the most up to date OS right now. Just something that isnt over a year out of date would be nice…
-
Let me explain this to you.
Google is responsible for distributing the update. It’s a wear os update with the apps and work from suunto.
Google has staged the update. Something like
First day 10%
…
Tuesday 100%.
Now since this is the latest update , there is no other update for the watch. If google has not pushed the update on 19th April then your watches would have found the previous update instantly.
This is an unfortunate situation for new users , only because there is a staged new system update.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos thank you for the explanation
-
@jamie-bg Manual update is clearly described on Suunto homepage, but the described process did not worked for days with uncountable trys. Suunto should be more precisely in their official descriptions or must ensure that the described process works.
-
@saemoliv it does not always work because it depends on Google having the update actually available for your Google play account. They do not distribute everything immediately to everyone.

I have the same problem. I bought my watch last week and its still running the first software. Anytime I check for an update it says up to date. I’m slowly getting annoyed and I am thinking on returning the watch.
-
@repayc Have you already tried the trick from Nigel?
The old “trick” of tapping the ‘Watch is Up to Date’ screen repeatedly for about 15 seconds seems to force the update.
I tried it about 25 seconds but it worked at the end!

I know your frustration…I bought my watch last Saturday, and wasn’t able to get it to update until this morning. I just kept trying here and there, and it finally worked for me today.
