I read from S7 FB group that apparently Suunto is working on the sensor support. This came from Youtube video from Romain Berger (Amer Sports sales area manager) who apparently stated that it is in Suunto’s plans for future updates.
PS don’t shoot the messenger! -
@jantikainen oh really? Do you have a link? To the youtube video that is. I don’t use Facebook.

@aleksander-h
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vnK8GzI_jqs&feature=youtu.beIt’s in French and I haven’t watch it yet myself, though I don’t understand french that much so maybe with subtitles on. Also the guy who posted it in FB mentioned the video comments.

@Aleksander-H
This is the actual comment from Romain Berger in the video comments. The question was about split function,“Hello Antoine. This feature is coming to Suunto 7 soon, as is the possibility of pairing a heart rate sensor. The upcoming update on S7 is mainly about everyday well-being features including a really relevant sleep tracking algorithm. Why ? As the S7 is primarily thought of as a hybrid that meets the needs of users seeking a compromise between Smartwatch and Sportwatch, the focus for this spring update has been on well-being.”

split function
What is this split function they say is coming?
-
@jantikainen Oh I REALLY hope this is true and sensor support does come to the S7!!
The S7 gets better and better and the devs are clearly listening to what the customers want. Great stuff Suunto!!

I was not expecting the S7 to improve this much when I read the initial reviews. I agree they seem to be listening. Very excited to see what they add next. Hoping for customizable HR zones as the training plans I follow use different zones than the S7.

Why suunto doesn’t Bring autorouting in s7?
It s a feature that garmin has on fenix with maps
Would be wonderful!
Is it possible for you?? -
@giulio Not sure how much battery would routing burn, probably quite some.

We don’t have this on the phone app either do we? I expect it would be more logical to introduce it there first. I’m guessing it’s actually quite complicated to implement.
-
@aleksander-h routing is in the app for route creation.

Routing, but not auto-routing though?
-
@aleksander-h you click on points, the app automatically routes you between them. That’s auto routing. I guess you mean something like re-routing, i.e. routing you back to route if you are off route, and the phone does not do that because you don’t use it for navigation.
-
@isazi
I spoke of auto routing knowning a destination and on the fly and without internet
Excuse my english… -
@isazi Ah, misunderstanding on my part then. Not sure what Garmin calls it, but on my Fenix I can specify that I want to go for a 5 km circular run, and it will generate a run for me which I can then follow. That’s the kind of functionality I thought we were talking about.
-
@isazi
But for that you need an internet connection -
@aleksander-h
Yes,you understand what i would say -
@aleksander-h that’s a feature that Strava does better than Garmin actually. Anyway, I request it in every survey. But not for the watch, I want it on the app.
-
@isazi agree with you there. Many more users would benefit if it gets built into the phone app.
