[iOS] 1.0.1 (6183) Movescount - Suunto Routes restriction
-
@jouko-from-suunto Ok.
I’m reseting now the watch and I will use the last version, I have only one route on Suunto App that is present to in MC routes, so, for me, at least for now, does not use Routes section in SA.
Because as @asdf123 for planning my week and some other things MC is required.
I’ll start to use SA Routes in the future when has evolved more.
in fact from this last version everything goes fine and smoothly, in that area it has improved a lot.

@jouko-from-suunto said in [iOS] 1.0.1 (6183) Movescount - Suunto Routes restriction:
Anyway to me this seems like a good show case what will happen in production if we have users who would like to use also MC for any reason (Strava connection to be the most obvious one atm).
The main reason for MC is that it has the most complete version of running related data. As of now, things are split in half, fitness in suunto app, sport specific in MC. It is still unclear how will this be resolved with a new watch announcement pending
-
@jouko-from-suunto seems new release is marking activities as synced, thats i think why MC is not picking them.
-
-
Sorry, I know this is just for iOS but I was curious… So, finally, if you are not using MC (for example SF3 users) you are safe yo use routes in SA, but if you like to use MC, it’s better to wait for newer versions of SA, correct?
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos @SlaSh tested and I sync a move to Suunto App, after that I used Movescount App and the activity was sync correctly.
As I say I have reset the phone some minutes ago.
-
@suzzlo Yes
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I see changelog that iOS 0.4.1 (6134) enabled marking activities as synced, but weird that even with 6134 and 6160 I was able to sync with MC even if workout was synced with suunto app, now with this release something was triggered and even rollback to 6134 do not in parallel with MC anymore.
I will check if I am able to sync activities to MC via cable.
-
In the beginning of the beta they asked testers to remove the MC app when testing the Suunto app. We were told to sync with the cable if we wanted items to go to Movescount. Can you confirm that the cable sync still works @SlaSh ?
-
@fleshymutant do not have cable with me at the moment will check later and report. If cable works I dont mind to delete app, but with app it was more comfortable to sync as I am using cable only for charge.
-
@jouko-from-suunto This would be a deal breaker for me, late to the story here in the USA. I have a lot of data in MC, many routes, planned moves, training plans and all of my tags. While I think the functionality of the new app is great, I am not willing to sacrifice what I get in MC from the app.
On a less personal note, all other fitness/watch manufacturers have apps that sync with a web version. Dissociating the two and not allowing them to sync would, in my opinion, likely cause Suunto to lose customers.
-
@brad_olwin web version is a must, but not sports-tracker version which is awful
-
@brad_olwin Without any doubt. I think 100% equal. Movescount web is a reference. I think dissociating two realities is a mistake.
-
@slash Yes, Sports-tracker is to run away and fast!
I do not even know what it’s kept for. Just to make confusion. -
I can still synk with cable after SA synk. Removed all routes from the SA…
I think it’s time for Suunto to be clear what the plan really is. -
Houston we have a problem via cable activities do not sync, so if workout is synced with suunto app there is no suunto way to sync them to the MC only 3rd party applications… this is really bad…
-
@johan6504 mmm… strange, in my case is not exactly the same.
All I have tested is with SSSWHRBaro
If I deleted the route I had previously in the watch via Suunto App (last build) and create some activities I have some scenarios:
-
App in Windows doesn’t sync nothing.
-
If I open MC Mobile app first, activity is synced, and after that SA synced too.
-
If I open SA Mobile app first, activity is synced, but MC Mobile doesn’t sync the activity.
So, apart with the problem with Windows App, as @SlaSh said before seems something has changed regarding with marking activities as already sync.
So to be able to use both Suunto App and Movescount you have to reset the watch
phone@SlaSh I think you are in my scenario, if you deleted the route via Suunto App.
But the same scenarios resetting the watch
phone, and doesn’t do nothing with routes section, everything works fine. Sync via Windows App, Sync first via MC app, after SA or Sync first via SA and then MC appPerhaps there are some bugs here, for some different behaviors we could see, my recommendation, if you update Suunto app, doesn’t use nothing related with routes in Suunto App till the scenario is clear
Edited: In fact I was thinking now and I there’s somebody using Suunto 3 with the beta app, he could use last version without problem
Edited 2: Fixed, resetting the watch, not the phone
-
-
@slash see my comment for long explanation, short one: reset the watch
-
Even after we get this to work as a short tirm solution, I strongly believe it is time for Suunto to be outspoken about what the intention is here. Where is Suunto App going? What is the long tirm status of Movescount, and if MC is on its way out, what comes instead. Only app is just not going to cover all the expectations, no matter what Suunto marketing thinks…
-
@johan6504 Pertinent thoughts.
And i remember once again, owners of Ambit’s don’t have access to Suunto app. And even they had already, Movescount app can’ t be switch off because implementation features for Ambit customers doesn’t exist yet in SA. Sport tracker can switch off, most people don’t care about platform.
