Sync data: yes - using either App via BT or SuuntoLink2so I will still be able to create mini apps and sync data after the 27th OCT when they are closing down moveslink?

@lohtse yes, explained in video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8VwhU99AIM

It seems their tech support don’t know this as I rang them just to get some confirmation about what we will be able to do and what we will be loosing.
And the video doesn’t confirm anything. It simply says howto connect movescount to SportsTRASHER no mention of mini apps whats so ever.
They stated that they will be dropping support for mini apps, and there may be only limited sync support.!!!

Hate the suunto app and the sportsTRASHER web site… When I compare how much data I have to analyse Movescount is far far better with the amount of information I can see in charts etc…For instance on one trek I have 13 charts with info on movescount and 3 on SportsTRASHER And yet Suunto claim that SportsTRASHER will be a better experience. For who???
all these charts are missing
Pace
Cadence
Temperature
EPOC
Energy Consumption
Respiration rate
Vertical speed
Sea level pressure
Est. VO2
R-Rand all this general info is missing(seen above route on movescount)
Speed

Recovery time

Ascent time
Descent time
Flat time
Highest point
Lowest point
Temperature

@lohtse the data is available in Suunto App on Android and iOS.
Sports-Tracker website is not intended to show you actual data, Suunto never mentioned it, but Suunto App instead.
if you need webplatform I’d recommend you @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos quantified-self.io is good alternative, well integrated with Suunto App (or any from the list https://www.suunto.com/partners/partners/)As for mini-Apps - not clear, yes, I guess apps you have installed on Ambits will continue to work (but not sure).
-
If sportstrasher is not intended to show us actual data then what the heck is the point in it??? As to seeing data in the app nope I still see far less than I do on movescount!!
-
@lohtse it’s another service, older than Suunto App.

What has suunto become??? Jeez they have become useless and pathetic…
thank you for the heads up about quantified-self.io
-
@lohtse Please read everything Suunto said regarding transition at https://www.suunto.com/digitalservices. Don’t know why you asking about Sports-Tracker, but it doesn’t mentioned anywhere there.
Have you installed Suunto App on you mobile phone and synced your workouts there? What data do you miss there on mobile phone?

Not a nice comment on the Suunto forum. Critics are one things, this is just a very unpolite comment. Anyway.
thank you for the heads up about quantified-self.io
Check also, if you don’t know it yet, Runalyze. It’s an awesome analytics service.

@isazi when your perfect watch and companion is basically ruined by the company that produced it because they don’t want to listen to the users, I feel my comments are justified… They are supposed to provide full support devices and features for there devices for something like three years(am sure someone will correct me) from when they stop selling them, yet suunto has all but binned there ambit range and traverse range. in favour of their WOKE generation sports/smartwatches… But my apologies for any offence I have cause users on here.

is not the sportstrasher the replacement for movescount?

No it is not, Suunto has not released any web platform, only the smartphone app.
And sportstrasher, seriously? How old are you
-
@isazi am old enough to have a hissy fit so as it stands we will at some point loose a web platform which will pretty much kill 30-40 of the features and data access on our ambits etc… Yep am I am allowed to have a hissy fit lol
on the plus side loving https://quantified-self.io/

@lohtse Nope, Suunto never said that. Sport-Tracker is originally sport tracking service which was developed inside Nokia and ended up separate company. Now owned by Suunto, but it’s separate service, definitely not replacement for Movescount. Suunto App https://www.suunto.com/suunto-app/suunto-app/ is replacement for Movescount.

and an extremely POOR one at that
-
@lohtse I quite understand that you’re pissed off by Movescount is being dropped. I would feel the same if I were you. But Suunto is not abandoning your Ambit 3, you can continue using it. Yes, the way to use is different and may be less convenient for you, but hope you’ll find a way which suits your needs. I encourage you to try Suunto App, various services like quantified-self which has integration with it and then bombard Suunto with request to support features you want/miss in Suunto App, it’s far from ideal but evolving.

Here’s one, bluetooth sync for everything, not just activities!
-
Even after having a S9B for some time and found it to be, not a perfect, but somehow very good replacement for my A3P, this annoys me like hell. In particular, I still cannot see why full BT sync is not possible in SA…
