Sport Mode Customization - Triathlon
-
I don’t know, but for sure it has something to do with “multisport” types
-
@sartoric Yes, but when you use multisport, you select each sport explicitly, but with triathlon, swim/ride/run are “preselected”, so, no idea how configure each
-
I think you need to do it as a multisport:
- Start Swim
- Hold top button to engage multi sport after swimming
- Start Cycling
- Hold top button to engage multi sport after cycling
- Start Running
- Press top button and end your session.
It will come up as a multisport move in the app and you can change the activity type by editing the move in the app. Oh and configure your sport modes separately for swim, bike, run if you need speciffic ones for triathlon.
-
@fejker so, no customization for the triathlon, and need to use multisport
Good because I could change all the details of each sport, but I lost transitions (I could create new sport mode to use as “transition”), and need to find/select each sport.
-
It looks like it. OR, you could reset your watch and set it up via Movescount that works.
Looks strange, because there is a triathlon option when you’re editing the move in the mobile app, but when you are creating sport modes, there is no option for it, only multi sport. Oh well, another one of those “features” of the app which hasn’t been ironed out yet and god only knows when it wil be. -
Returning to MC sync seems to be my best option (losing routes )
Thanks!

Hi,
You may try to create your customized triathlon sport mode in Movescount.
And synchronize watch with MCapp.
Then triathlon customized is in the watch.
Not éditable in SA, but it does the trick (for me) -
@Mff73 uhmmm good!!! Thx

Any news about triathlon mode in Suunto app?
-
So if I understand well, creating a triathlon sport mode or a multisport mode is only possible on MC and not on SA, but MC is closing, and anyway, I cannot link my spartan sport to MC.
How can Suunto force us to use the app while it doesn’t offer the same features. It’s really a step backward for Suunto…
By the way, if you google triathlon mode for suunto spartan, you arrive on the help section of suunto in which it’s said to use MC to do so… How silly is that!?Finally we always come to the same conclusion : Closing movescount is a huge mistake for users
-
@zeboz What you could made with old models (I had owen triathlon, duathlon modes in Ambit2) is with newest top models impossible. It is progress…
-
@mcindr moreover it was possible with old models (I miss my ambit 3 so much!!) but it was possible with the spartan, and it was a key feature of this model! Suunto is lowering its products… We are all sportsmen and sportwomen here, I think we need sport watch and not apple watch or samsung gear. Please Suunto give us back our original features!!
-
I am back with this topic. Does anyone need a triathlon custom mode ? Maybe we should start pushing suunto to make such option available in Suunto App.
-
@Maryn I need it, at least for my wife that I plan to buy a Race S once released, she is a tri athlete, for the training using Multisport will do the job but loosing transition in a bit of a shame when you record a competition.
I have to admit that I did not check this mode before, I m surprised that the feature is not present and I hope it could be implemented, for sure it will miss her
-
@Maryn well, I raised this request for the first time in 2018, when I bought my first Suunto Trainer watch. For next 6 years I am following this topic and upvoting all similar requests. I suggested some workarounds already (multisport groups - dedicated group of activities where you could add (customized) activities whitch you will be switching during your multisport session). Such solution would solve not only triathlon, but all multisport activities, like Swimrun, duathlon, aquathlon, Bikerun, etc…as you would be able to create dedicated customized Multisport group/activity.
Well, now I am six years older, I have two more Suunto watches and my current model is Limited version of Suunto 9 Baro Ironman edition, which should have Triathlon in it’s DNA (as I have). Well, nope. Still the same unfamiliar native triathlon mode, which drives me crazy in every race… So yes, I am upvoting your request, hoping for the best, but expecting nothing… -
@zadow last weekend I had a race and I used the native triathlon mode. It worked quite but some datafields are missing. Like avg speed or avg lap pace. I thought to use the multisport mode and make each mode separately including T1/T2 but I was afraid that during the race I would get too confused and it would not work out. In the end, I let it go. …
