Route navigation suunto 5
-
@S-Boardman , not better than @Łukasz-Szmigiel
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel sorry, whats SA mean
-
@S-Boardman Suunto App.
-
Ok done that. Sync 3 routes to watch. When preview on watch none of the 3 matched shape of the route.
-
Tried again and now preview on watch matches shape of route.
-
@S-Boardman did they differ from each other? If they did, try some more until route shape in the watch matches the one you synced.
-
@S-Boardman OK so you should be good to go. Try creating an actual route and sync it. It’s shape should match the one sent from SA.
After you’re finished you can unsync the abc routes in SA (give it some time).
However don’t delete them from SA until you’re positive they’re gone from the watch.
-
Generally with current firmware and SA versions this process is a little bit delicate but it works if done right.
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel 2 out of 3 matched
-
@S-Boardman you may need to recreate the routes from scratch and give them a new name.
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel thanks, ill keep trying. Do I need to have my phone with me whilst navigating a route?
-
@S-Boardman no, certainly not. You need the phone only for syncing. If the route is in the watch (and it’s the correct one), you should be good to go.
You may have more than one route stuck in watch memory so it might require some more trial and error. I think that the watch can store up to 15 routes so it shouldn’t be that hard to flush them.
I’d recommend unsyncing everything so that you can see there are 0 routes in watch. Then, remove all of them from SA and start from scratch.
Synchronize each one independently (click send to watch and wait until the map stops flashing and there’s no sync indicator on the watch face).
You can also try reinstalling SA (or just remove all app data, relogin, etc.) if it won’t help.
If all else fails - hard reset will remove all routes in the watch.

@Łukasz-Szmigiel thanks for your help

@S-Boardman Are you syncing with Suunto App once per day? Is the green GPS icon lighting up on the watch prior to your start? It is possible that you do not have a current AGPS file and the watch does not “know” where you are. The route will not show properly under those circumstances. To check AGPS on the watch go to Settings/General/About and make sure the AGPS file is current. If not you need to sync with SA and ensure GPS is optimized and a current (today’s date) AGPS file is present.
