barometer altimeter and storm alarm
-
@Luca-Renier you will have to install third party apps to check altimeter and barometer in watch mode (i.e. not during activities). If you search this forum there are some mentioned.

@isazi thanks
yes i read some post about weather , but i hope in suunto app…
ok i understand. thanks -
@Luca-Renier altimeter is in the Suunto watch app.
Barometer would be nice - I agree.
Storm alarm does not really make sense to have in the Suunto watch app, since it would only be active when recording an exercise - while I expect storm alarm to constantly run in the background… -
@Luca-Renier According to the Suunto web site regarding storm alarm, there are “several options via Google Play”. But I haven’t found any…

You can take any weather app on the smartphone with storm alarm. The notification will be sent to the watch even during an activity.
E. g. this one is working quite good: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrustonapps.mylightningtracker&hl=en_US
-
@pilleus Thanks. This does however require that I have my phone present, correct?
I would like a stand alone watch app and I also expect this with regards to what Suunto says on their web site. -
@aeroild with a standalone app the watch can only use the barometer. I prefer the information of a weather app on the smartphone, because it is more accurate and precise. I use it on the Spartan Ultra too, because I experienced that the alert of the barometer is coming too late. The weather app will give me a better chance to find a secure place before a storm or thunderstorm will begin.

@Luca-Renier I use this, it works great for iOS and has a current radar map that is great. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.acmeaom.android.myradar

@Brad_Olwin thanks
but i like my ex suunto spartan baro sensor…
one simple reason: cellular app use internet connection and in mountain it is s problem: i prefer sensor of my suunto
probably i return my new suunto7 and buy a suunto9 for this… -
@Luca-Renier they’re quite different watches, the 7 is a smart watch with outdoor capabilities, and gives the best when it can connect to the internet. If you just look for a Spartan replacement for activities, the 9 baro is probably better.

For me it does not work too well. In fact - not at all.
See screenshot of watch and app at the same time and both just updated:
Anything to do to make it work?
-
@Egika Swipe down on the Map watch face, it should refresh. Mine does fairly quickly. Sometimes, but only rarely I need a watch restart.
-
@Brad_Olwin all done. Refreshed, restarted - above is the result after all of that…
-
@Egika I have the pro version on my phone but that should not matter. You can swipe left and see current temp and forecast?

Yes. No problem with that. It also updates when e.g. showing “30 mins ago” on top of the radar screen and I swipe down. Just never any precipitation overlay data showing…
Anyway - have just written to support. I was thinking maybe I am missing something obvious… -
@Egika Mine sometimes does not update when I swipe down, but if I scroll to the forecasts it updates automatically and I see current weather. Also as Dimi mentioned I am running a different firmware than you are, that might have something to do with it as well. Santa is coming as Dimi said.
