@pilleus Just out of curiosity - which watch is it?!
For my sports the Ticwatch Pro 2020 is the best WearOS watch out there. Especially the battery usage, the brilliant second display, the native sleep tracking and the speaker, which gives me via tts every kilometre or every 10 minutes the state of my activity with distance, duration, calories, average speed and heart rate. It is awesome.

@pilleus I’m sorry to see you go. Your adventurous approach to finding apps and work arounds to solve problems and fulfill needs will be missed!

Google Fit and battery usage
I experienced, that deactivating Google Fit will deactivate all tracking of heart rate, steps and calories at the moment. Suunto WearApp doesn’t do this job quite now.
Setting up the S7 in the beginning I deactivated location services for Google Fit, but in the settings of the S7 I saw, that location service is enabled after all. I didn’t track my activities with Google Fit, therefore I deactivated activity tracking in Google Fit too. No need for location services.
Then I decided to deactivate location services for Google Fit in the S7 settings. Just follow the screenshots (excuse me for the German language, but you will find the corresponding settings in your own language).
Open settings - apps¬ficiations - app info - scroll down to system apps - open system apps - scroll down to Fit - open Fit - scroll down to permissions - deactivate location services - confirm the dialog field with the warning.
Now Google Fit will work without tracking activities with using GPS and the battery usage should be minimal.

What is the best message app for S7?
I’ve tried wear messages and informer but neither of them show pics for me in whatsapp messages. -
@JANTIKAINEN Android phone? IPhone?

@pilleus android

I do not understand why there are no pictures shown in wear messages. I never had a problem with the app.

Thank you for these hints. I probably don’t get the point.
Would this (disable GPS for Fit) have any effect if I don’t start tracking an activity from Fit?
If I use Fit to record something, location is needed. If I don’t use Fit this way, it should not activate GPS anyway…?! -
@Egika if I don’t allow Fit to use GPS (in the initial setup), GPS is enabled nevertheless. Therefore I disabled it in the app settings. No permission, no battery usage.
-
@pilleus Thanks, and out of curiosity: how do you get the information, if an app uses GPS?

Just took my S7 for a run with Jabra elite 65t.
Had downloaded some offline music to google music.
What a horrible experience! The sound was cutting off all the time. Is there anything I can do about it or do I just have try with some other earbuds? -
@JANTIKAINEN Try other earbuds and other application (For example, NavMusic/NavExplorer or Wear Casts).
-
@JANTIKAINEN check on which side the antenna is on the earplugs, and match it with the watch.
-
@pavelsamokha Funny thing is that I have no issues at home even when I’m running and jumping around.
The cutting off started when I got outside. -
@JANTIKAINEN may be also environmental. There was a particular intersection in downtown Singapore where my headphones would disconnect from my phone. Almost every morning.
-
@JANTIKAINEN You may be having trouble outside because there is nothing for the Bluetooth signal to bounce off of. Inside, there are walls everywhere to reflect the signal. You might have better luck if you wear your watch on the other wrist outside.
-
@Randy-Penn Thanks, I’ll try.

Is it somehow possible to completely turn off the screen when tracking sports in the Suunto app? Some elements are always on, and I guess therefore also consuming some battery power…

Now I think I found a bug while trying as follows:
Start a running activity on the watch
Press left button to go to home screen
Then swipe down
Select cinema mode to leave screen offFirstly when turning my wrist the display came on anyway.
From now on the whole touch screen stopped working. Completely. Only buttons functional.
Had to hard reboot my watch.Can anyone Co firm this behavior and where to report to?
-
@Egika I remember trying this when doing an 18k run and was starting to get low on bat. (had only 29% when I started the run and finnished with 2%)
But anyway I turned off my screen when I had 3k’s to go and remember also that when I turned my wrist the display went back on.
Touch screen was fully functional though.
