Ambit 2 Suuntolink - Movescount
-
For now you should be able to use Moveslink2 and Movescount. There have been several updates from Suunto, and you can look for them in the digital service transition section.
-
Okay Isazi, thank you for your quick and clear answer!
-
@IwanBass and since yesterday you can also use Suuntolink to sync your activities to Suunto App.
-
I have synchronized all trainings from movescount to suuntolink. However, I read now, that this is only possible once! I am going to do more trainings, can I no longer export them to the suuntolink? (I have to save money for a new watch first).
-
@IwanBass so I assume you have migrated all moves from Movescount to Suunto App. That was your history. For the new moves you can sync them directly to SA using the new Suuntolink.
-
Thank you Isazi, it works. Last week the new Suuntolink was not yet compatible with Ambit (1-2-3), I saw, now it is! Thanks Suunto! The strange thing is that Suuntolink and Movescount cannot be open on the PC at the same time, but when I delete Movescount, Suuntolink does not recognize the watch. So it’s funny; it clashes with each other but cannot do without each other, but I am really happy that it works, because I love the Ambit.

Hello,
Ambit 2 user. Unistalled Moveslink as is stopped working a week ago.
I have just now downloaded latest version of SuuntoLink 3.0.2 (running on OSX 10.15), supposedly compatible with Ambit 2.
Connected the watch to the laptop, USB cable seems fine because watch is charging. Tried several USB ports.
I have rebooted both watch and laptop as indicated.
Still no luck. SuuntoLink not recognizing the watch.Any ideas? It is really frustrating.
Thanks

@Jose_Quiles
could it be that Moveslink2 have the drivers for Ambit and not Suuntolink (yet ? ) ?
Eventually resintall moveslink2 and see. -
Hi, thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately, Moveslink 2 also doesn’t recognize the watch anymore neither
So it seems more like a general connection issue (?!) rather than app specific. I’ve tested the USB ports, they seem to work with other hardware: mouse, external drive.
Watch also charges when connected.
-
@Jose_Quiles any chance you know someone with another cable so you can be sure your it’s not broken?
-
@Jose_Quiles I am on the same version of Mac Catalina. Perhaps I can help, although I have an Ambit3Peak not A2. Is Moveslink still installed or running on your computer? Double check to make sure. In Suuntolink Settings are you still connected to Movescount? I would forget this setting. If none of that works, try reinstalling Suuntolink again. Mine did work the first time I tried.
-
Saturday I ran, connected my Ambit to the PC, synchronized with Moveslink 2, close the programm, than synchronized with Suuntolink.
Suuntolink does not show the VO2 and EPOC in the app, while Moveslink does show this!
I start to wonder what the added value of Suuntolink is … -
@IwanBass
it is not intended to add any value, except that Movescount will be “closed” for activity repository --> Suuntolink has been changed to handle Ambits, AND to sync with SuuntoApp.But agree with you, data must not be lost.
-
Okay, thanks for the quick and clear answer.
I’m going to save for a Spartan wrist, because I like it very much. But I would like to know for sure whether Suuntolink shows the EPOC and VO2, can you confirm this?
-
@IwanBass wheat we can see is that Suunto App and Ambits are not best friends, yet. I really hope they’ll get better support, but SA is still a work in progress. I like it, and see how it’s improving, but I rely on 3rd party services for all analysis.

I read on this forum that there have been no updates of the Spartan since last year, I do not want to invest a lot of money in a watch that, like Ambit, can no longer be updated. Obviously Suunto wants 5 - 7 - 9 after everything I read. There may be a new version of the 9, but unfortunately no one provides clarity about that.
- I think it is a big flaw that there is only an app and no PC program.
- My Suunto ant heart rate belt also no longer works with the new watches.
Before I make a big investment, I did some research last week. A colleague has a Garmin; I have been studying that in the past week. This does have a PC program. The data is also very extensive (which I always thought Suunto was at the forefront of this). I was pleasantly surprised at the functionalities.
I was really satisfied with my Ambit 2, I really like the Spartan and Suunto 9, but I am still disappointed in the software, especially now that Movescout disappears, which I was also very satisfied with. Who knows, maybe I’ll come back to Suunto later, but at the moment Garmin is my preference.

@IwanBass I agree with you … I want to replace my old Ambit 2, and I will look to the other brands …
