What services do you use for routes and GPX download
-
I use Wikiloc.
-
Xpedition2.com & My.ViewRanger.com. Single GPX files including multiple routes, tracks and POIs. High-grade topo maps available.
Efficient use of big-screen web to plan complex/multiple items; SA on phone to sort.
-
@Fenr1r could I get some of those complex GPX if possible ? (no need to be an actual route in terms of privacy concerns)
-
In progress. There will be a brief delay as I have to venture outside for a while. Carefully.
-
@Fenr1r take your time
-
-
https://ridewithgps.com/ (its not free)
-
-
- Movescount (combination with heatmaps)
- Plotaroute (editing)
- Koomot (still trying)
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos OK, so …
Research project involving 4 tracks (start point redacted) & 6 POIs. Different device outputs consolidated via ViewRanger: Research2019-12.gpx .
Loop comprising 4 Routes (one composite), 6 POIs and track: MYSTERYNP.GPX . Via Xpedition2.
One Route with several POIs (although they could have been checkpoint/refreshment WPs) for an old event that was sent to me. [Possibly an example of a potential solution to @Brad_Olwin’s co-siting problem.] Not sure of its provenance but it opened without issue. It says “viewranger” in the header but that’s probably my Open&Re-Save: Hallow 12 Parish 40M route.gpx .

“Strava to GPX” on Android.
It is useful to download (on mobile) the tracks of other users (even those that you do not follow).
Then I upload them from my mobile to Suunto app.Very easy and everything from the smarthphone.
-
I use https://osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk in the UK or www.movescount.com (you may have heard of it ) when not in the UK.
-
@amasidlover hmmm movescount. That is something new to me thanks for sharing

Gaia and Caltopo

Seems that each use different app for planning routes!!!

@suzzlo Almost. Crunching the numbers through a state-of-the-art LaZass 5000 difference engine, @amasidlover’s dark horse candidate emerges as a clear leader at this stage:
† FWIW, I occasionally use MC, OSmaps & wikiloc, too.
