Regretfully I will be returning my Suunto 7. I really wanted to like this device, I love everything about the design, gorgeous display, felt good on my wrist just an overall pleasure to look at.

My main reasons for returning are the battery life, Google Fit, the Suunto App, and the cost.

Battery life: I am only getting a day to a day and half of battery life out of it, I don’t like to throw my devices on a charger when there is still 30-40% left on the battery but I also don’t like to have to charge it halfway thru my day. I know sounds weird but that is how I am.

Google Fit is just an awkward program to look at stats about health, all the graphs seem to be so smoothed over and the data points seem so far apart, not a lot of data points throughout the day for heart rate. Many other app seems so much better, S-Health, Garmin Connect, Polar Flow etc…

Suunto app was a let down because not everything is centralized here, it kind of sucks to have to switch between Google Fit and Suunto app to see all your health data. Much prefer a one stop shop but I understand why they did it, it just isn’t for me. For a $499 device I would expect to get a lot of data out of this device in terms of fitness tracking and improvements. All I see are individual workouts and but nothing that shows progress, except VO2max.

The one thing I did get out of this was more use out of Strava, I ended up purchasing a subscription to Strava so I can see my fitness level increase. The shortcomings of Google Fit and the Suunto app led me to use this, so that is a plus.

I know this post seems a little disjointed but I just wanted to get my thoughts out there in case it might help others.

For some the Suunto 7 will be a great watch but for people driven by fitness data I don’t feel this watch is for you.

I agree with Suunto app integration, I would like it to be the real hub of my daily activity pushed from Google fit. But I don’t agree that other apps seems better, but a personal opinion.

I hope you’ll find the smartwatch or the sport watch you are looking for.

@Bulkan Yes I agree the apps are a personal preference, I really meant to say the other apps are only better because all the data is in one app essentially. I love the Suunto App but having to switch to Fit for some stuff was not a great experience.
