The installation file for movescout2 may contain malware

@mario_b
my impression: he is not allowed to install private software on a business computer and the firewall detected this… -

Moveslink2
I’m not a Spammer, just at disappointed user ;-). Yes, it should be Moveslink2 (got it wrong as had to rewrite my post since the first one disappeared). I downloaded it from Suuntos download page with the web page set to the Swedish profile. We run Win10 Professional with the latest patches and updates.

@suunto_andersson-a-se could you post the detailed message what was blocked? or even better the prevented hash value?
-
@TELE-HO I have total admin rights thank you. The file appears to attempt to connect to a non-suunto web site (cloudfront.net) hence it was blocked. When I check the file with Norton it looks OK which is no guarantee as Suuntos (especially legacy) software easily may slip though the mesh. I know that this is a page for Suunto lovers, but regardless of reason, it is unacceptable to ship software that does not live up to minimal standards regarding security.
-
@suunto_andersson-a-se thats aws (amazon cloud) more and more companies are using it.
-
@mario_b Why don’t you (re-) download the file and try to install it?

This is not necessary a fingerprint for a malaware, it could be a false positive
Cloudfront is just a CDN used by companies to share contents and even the Suunto app connect to it -
@suunto_andersson-a-se because i secured our company that it is impossible to download and install software without running through a process of checks, and only can be installed via SCCM. even on administration computers. but i’ll try it in the lab environment

@TELE-HO i’m not afraid of malware
-
@mario_b do you afraid of coronavirus ?
-
@zhang965 only if i would visit the asian continent.
-
@mario_b Don’t worry. I just returned the Traverse and will opt for a serious supplier. Suunto seems to be past its prime. Nice looking hardware but crappy software (created by amateurs?) and customer support (Trustpilot 1 out of 5). Unless everyone on this forum are paid Suunto trolls, why bother to do their job for them. This is just another Nokia going down the drain…

But will he inform “relevant authorities” about the incident?! This is a question!

All of this was bizarre. And we are official Suunto paid trolls apparently
