S7: Why is it thinking it's off wrist?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Yes, it works just fine once you unlock the watch. Tried it already. And yes, per my post, the DND doesn’t override the alarm – this option is disabled.
-
@NickK oh so with the watch locked no vib …
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Yes, I think at some point either it lost enough contact with skin to decide it’s off the wrist, or some other bits led it to lock up. And once it’s locked, it doesn’t buzz.
-
@NickK there is an option to enable dnd when off wrist. Turning that off still does the same ?
Could you test ?
I collect all these to create reports for Google (via suunto) and suunto

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos The option was enabled. But then DND was enabled manually regardless of that option. It shouldn’t have overriden alarm because that override is disabled and can’t be changed by the user. I think the problem is that the watch thought it wasn’t on the wrist, locked up, and decided not to buzz.

It’s official: the override for Do Not Disturb setting (enabled, see screenshots above) is being ignored. The alarm works just fine with or without Theater Mode as long as DND on the watch isn’t turned on. If it is, the alarm would go off, but the watch won’t buzz. With Theater Mode, the screen will also remain blank.
This has nothing to do with on the wrist detection. The alarm this morning didn’t buzz, and no unlock was requested.
Basically, easy to replicate: just set up the alarm, engage the DND on the watch, and see it remain silent when the time comes.

@NickK Got it and Google ACK it (AFAIK)
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Looks like Theater mode is enough to silence notifications and the alarm would still buzz.

Wanted to mention switching off the alarm – the whole pull up notifications, expand the alarm, and stuff, but then realized this would have been done regardless if you use Theater mode. And you probably want to use Theater mode because as good as S7 is at detecting tilt, moving your hand accidentally at night and flooding the room with that bright AMOLED white isn’t optimal
Better to hunt notifications to shut off the buzzer.
Another thing for El Goog to think as far as usability is concerned. There has to be an a way to return control to the apps like alarm as opposed to the watch face when theater mode is exited.
