      @jouko-from-suunto

      Thanks for your reply, I use the movescount site more often than I used the Movescount app to show and edit moves.

      Questions is with the new SuuntoApp there is only one way to see my moves, and that will be the mobile App.
      Sharing moves is not the “problem”, but will there be a similar website like Movescount for the data, or not?

        I installed the Sports-Tracker app on my iPhone yesterday to try it out, and I found it quite similar to the new Suunto App. Is the new app just a tuned Sports-Tracker app with few more features and the sync options?

        Is it possible, that there will be not new movescount site or a companion site for the new Suunto App because all data is stored on the Sports-Tracker site?

          @jthomi I cannot really answer you this question about the web interface but when I have more news I’ll get back to this.

            Hi, I think, platform must have 3 level (as all modern platforms):

            • Watch: store last X items (delete older when storage is finished)
            • Mobile app: store offline some data (from watch or server)
            • Server: save all data forever (workouts, HR, sleep, steps, calories, …)

            Now, we can see some workouts in Suunto App web page, so I think is must be some kind of Web Interface preview

            I can’t imagine having a server backend with all data without one Web Interface

              Hi,
              I’m one of the Android user waiting for the app, so no real comment on App functionnality for now without seeing anything.
              But concerning the web interface, I totally agree that a web access to datas stored by the App is compulsery.
              But, Suunto App is in beta, and must for now be customized and filled with many lacking functions, and, as I understand, all the synchronizing functions to Movescount are made by SuuntoLink.
              The question is : Will Suunto/Amersport make exist both SuuntoApp/Sporttrackers datas and Movescount ?
              This new App sounds like a kind of merging these two system.

                @mff73 let’s see about this. I am also curious about how it will end up.
                I think another option is to port all movescount data to the new app and migrate to that eventually.
                If there is no feature loss it’s a viable option perhaps for me.

                  @dimitrios-kanellopoulos,
                  I will try all these kind of tricks as soon as I will have the App. 😎

                    @jouko-from-suunto

                    Hi Jouko,
                    there is a lot of confusion concerning this app and approach Suunto is taking. I’ve been using the new app now for a week and the app itself looks very promising and has a lot of great features I’ve been hoping for. So, it looks like you are moving to right direction.

                    On the other hand there is also a lot of open questions of where you are heading with this and current Movescount. Will this replace Movescount completely? What happens to all the thousands of moves in Movescount? Is this kind of replacement / companion to SportsTracker?

                    I’d really hope that you’d open up a bit of the roadmap, since we all have enormous amount of past training data in your systems and I think that most of us are not willing to lose that data.

                    And what do you mean by: “You can share your moves already and those links are to app.suunto.com/xxxYourMovexxx/”

                    There is really no way to see e.g. all moves created/shared by an user. Or is there?

                      @mrefin Valid questions and concerns.

                      It is unfortunate that we have not been able to get any road map to add visibility. I have been promising it from the very beginning, but haven’t been able to get anything from the iterations to be published here. So we’ll have to see how it ends up with that. The debate is ongoing internally about what can we publish and also keep the promises we have published. I’m trying to get something, even for the next few weeks if we can’t get the big picture here.

                      This is connected to the goals of the new app. The clear goal for Suunto app is to be the best companion for the Suunto devices that has bluetooth capability. It is Mobile first approach, and remains to be seen how much we will have featured depending about a web pages and login to web. The connection from Movescount to Suunto app will be implemented and there will be a point where all the data that is stored in Movescount (including for example swimming strokes) can be seen in Suunto app. The historical data before Suunto app will be there at some point. You could say that it is possible to move from Movescount to Suunto app system. As long as your Suunto wrist device supports bluetooth.

                      This Suunto app will not replace sports-tracker app. It is based on that, though. There are different features, like Suunto app is aiming to be the best companion for your Suunto wrist device. At the moment you only can pair HR belt to Sports-tracker, not in Suunto app, and you can only pair Spartan to Suunto app, most likely never to Sports-tracker.

                      About that link, I meant that if you share in Facebook from the app, that link will open and point to that app.suunto.com server.

                      Yes, I don’t think there is a way to collectively see all moves shared by a certain user in the web. The Feed in the app does not have any filtering for individuals so we may have a hole for feature request there.

                        Hello,

                        Resurrecting this topic about web interface, suunto app is quite good to review current new workouts but it is quite pain in the a** to check historical ones or to view workout more detailed I’ve used web page for this. So there going to be suunto app web interface or not? Because if no you will shoot yourself in the foot as MC was quite good web interface for detailed graphs view, apple doesnt have web interface for health data view and lots of users complaint about that, myself included.
                        What is stopping to use sports-tracker web just re-brand it with suunto with suunto www as basically suunto app = enhanced sportstracker app.
                        As currently I use sports-tracker web for such things.

                          The web UI is just a must have. All planning and analysis just requires more screen real estate to be user friendly. Mobile is great post exercise single move analysis, completing move data, cheering for friends, checking your daily/weekly progress etc. Suunto users already have very good web UI in form of movescount and it is not easy to excel beyond that. Should they even try?

                          I guess another approach is to build App that really excels on mobile and steer people to 3rd party services for stuff that requires more advanced functionality.

                          Still I think pointing Suunto App into movescount backend and web UI would be good solution.

                            @jarlin Yes, we want Suunto App (that works well) and Movescount Web (renamed to Suunto App Web)

                              I too wish we could find out what is an eventual goal. I have no idea whether the app will ever integrate with MC or if Suunto drops MC and moves to revamp SportsTracker. I like MC a lot and think that it is the best web interface for an individual product. The only web platform that is better IMHO is Training Peaks. I have no use for Strava, I know a minority, but Strava simply eliminates pauses unless it is a race, it doesn’t have that many features. I would pay for an enhanced MC but I will be sorely disappointed if the end result is less than what we have now.

                                  Any news about this? You just start to communicate more widely and I don’t find any roadmap about what would be develop, and if a website would be part of it.
                                  l weekly use the movescount site to create new route, the “follow road” feature is a real asset compared to site like OpenRunner.

                                    @FrancoisP You can use the same feature on your phone in SA to create routes. I actually find they work well, just waiting for waypoints to be implemented. I think we now know that MC will be closing down but how MC functionality will be replaced is not entirely clear yet.
