@fejker Spartan doesn’t have SW support any more…? It had 3 firmware updates this year… and I really don’t think that Suunto keep bugs in their SW deliberately… do you?
BTW, I am on your side, but I think that people generally have big demands and expectation. -
When I first came to trail running, I was on the Ambit 3 / Movescount system and 4 of my buddies were using the Ambit 3 as well. Now, most of them are already deciding to switch to Coros as it’s price point and feature set (along with a push from the local distributor) is making a strong case. I meanwhile on the other hand, is still using the Suunto 9. Most of them have had some issues trying the App and aren’t too convinced with the feature set of the 9, which is a bit of a shame.
While I’m probably less dependant on the features for my use case, I think if it’s not on par with what the market is asking, then It’s probably not going to gain new customers, or in this case, lose existing customers. I do hope Suunto gets more developers on board to move the development of the app quicker and get newer products which are on par feature-wise with its competitors. I still think Suunto still makes the best hardware among the lot.

I often read people leave Suunto for Garmin, but Garmin (or any brand for that matter) isn’t flawless either. The Fenix5 Plus for example often has horrible GPS, especially in open water and it’s about 100 / 200 bucks more than the Suunto 9.

@auxina
it’s only about the question if you prefer US or EU companies…
…and if you can live without web interface! -
@TELE-HO
True.
I want to clarify it because sometimes it compares with the S9 version not baro.
I would like to have a web interface. I currently use Runalyze, QS and Final Surge, but I would prefer Suunto to have one.Ah, Europe, always Europe!
-
@auxina
I really also would like to see SW (Suunto Web)… QS is pretty nice to survive in case SW will never come.…telemark bindings are better from the US I think …the Norwegians are the patent holders but the US design is better… off topic off, again

I see I compared the Suunto 9 without the barometer with the 5/5s/5plus and that de 5 series has a barometer. However the regular S9 is € 280 here, while the 5plus is almost twice as mutch. Apples and oranges I know. I just compared the G5 and the S9 (and went for the S9 last week). I didn’t notice the barometer difference since I don’t attach any value to it. My bad.

Hehe, I have few friends with Garmin and they use probably 10% features of their watches (activity measuring, time, notifications from mobile). I have S9 and I’m probably using 80 - 90% features of my S9.
So, this is very strange ratio price / power -
For me, My S9 is a great piece of HW but
I miss him waypoints/POI. I know it’s on the way…
and more adjustable intervals. The actual intervals timer is good with its screens but a little more configured will be great.

5plus es casi el doble de mordisco. Manzanas y naranjas, lo sé. Acabo de comparar el G5 y el S
Good buy.
Enjoy! -
@fejker Seriously, I´m using Suunto 9 24/7. I take them off only to charge. I´m measuring everything what they can. I´am also using sunset info, thunderstorm alarm, height, compass, navigation, 24/7 HR, steps, calories, sleep, first beat features… allmost everything
I do not understand why someone buys an expensive Garmin with tons of features and only uses activity tracking, notifications and time… -
@Václav-Král
because an expensive multisport watch makes almost everyone look like an athlete -

@solid_dd what? I thought after a certain price point training is not necessary anymore, you just sit and see the stats improve
-
@fejker this was very funny kudos! (really)
