Suunto cable operated software alternatives
-
Well it seems like people with cable operated only Suunto are afraid of not being able to use their watches anymore.
This topic is aimed to give this people some resources, in the case they do nothing (so far they only gave coupons for S9 and S9B).1st- Keep in mind that even without internet you can take out moves from the watch:
Look here https://forums.watchuseek.com/f233/guide-accessing-ambit2-possibly-others-gps-data-offline-1343682.htmlWhat you can’t do, at least right now is change the watch parameters. Long time ago, people made a petition asking suunto for offline software to control the watch, but nothing was ever given, so I doubt something will be done.
Knowing this, what I give here, are links to software that can help you analyse/store your moves (of course you can always take them from the watch and send it to strava or any other site) or be used as an alternative to moveslink.
Hope it gives you some help in the future, and doesn’t make you feel you have a paper weight:Openambit: moveslink alternative for linux https://github.com/openambitproject/openambit
Ambit Connect: moveslink alternative for android (using usb otg): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greenpeakdigital.ambitconnect
AmbitSync: same as above https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=idv.markkuo.ambitsync
Alt S-Count: android and windows https://github.com/kekepins/alt-scount (I guess not developed anymore)

There was Sport tracks, but it will be EOL in 2020 and you can buy it anymore, just here for reference http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/sporttracks/support/updates.php
Also some Suunto tools to read Ambit logbook, export POIs and convert .sml files to gpx
https://forums.watchuseek.com/f233/anyway-pull-single-waypoint-off-traverse-4858421-2.htmlAlso for even oler watches than the Ambits, here are some Suunto old softwares:
https://forums.watchuseek.com/f374/suunto-old-softwares-1035914.htmlI can’t guarantee that every software here works, but at least you have something to work. If you prefer online you can always upload manually to Strava and to have better analysis, you may want to consider this:
https://thomaschampagne.github.io/elevate/#/landing
https://blog.veloviewer.com/about/If you are frustrated that in the future you need to manually upload to strava, just think that Garmin sells the Etrex 30x/32X as “compatible with Garmin Connect” and it is the sameway => gpx=> manually upload.
Enjoy your watches and the world around, even if you can’t use it fully.

Thanks for the list.
It’s very useful for people (like me) that only want to keep their data locallyI would add :
Runner’s Studio (Windows only) : http://www.runnersstudio.com/
Pytrainer : https://sourceforge.net/projects/pytrainer/And a promising one currently being developed : Elevate Desktop: https://blog.usejournal.com/elevate-for-strava-is-jumping-the-strava-fence-to-become-an-independent-desktop-training-app-1f644c2af824

@André-Faria if you are interested (shameless comment) my app at quantified-self.io does support .sml and json files from ambit 1 on… Up to s7 (chronologically).
Those are files created by SL.

@Frederic It appears from their documentation that this program can import files, but not directly read from a Suunto watch.
