How to create POIs in Suunto App
-
It can’t be done atm
for sure in Android … maybe in iOs , for the lucky guys but I think it can’t be done on iOs either -
@sartoric wow, I compared changelog iOS and Android version and they are quite different. I’m surprised.
-
POIs or a track with POIs ?
-
atm , afaik both can’t be done … even if in fact routes were created as a set of sub-tracks until the last beta
-
@Saketo-Nemo of course I think about POIs without route, but POIs on the route will be nice to look
-
I was wondering why POIs and waypoints are very often confused, but is not your case.
So if your question was meant to have waypoints on a route, the answer, even if not resolving as far as suuntoapp is concerned, is to use the movescount to design the route and insert waypoints, synchronizing the track from the app. (yes, you can do it even if you’re already using suuntoapp) -
Neither POIs or Waypoints are supported in iOS and now I know they are not supported in Android either…yet. I hope this will change.

Hi,
Any news about waypoints and POI from Suunto App? Missing this feature.
Thank you
-
@gerardtp Me too…they are coming but we just don’t know when, unfortunately.

Here is a solution!
- Import or draw a route with waypoints in MC web (If you want POIs you can add those here as well)
- Make sure you are synced to SA with the watch then force quit SA (it cannot be running in the background)
- Download MC app to your phone, you watch will be recognized and will sync to MC (make sure SA is NOT running first)
- Your route with POIs will be loaded into the watch but all sport mode customizations will be overwritten by MC.
- Force quit MC (not running in the background)
- Open SA and sync. The route will remain in the watch memory with POIs and your sport modes will re-sync.
- You will need to redo this over again to delete the route and replace “import or draw” in step 1 with “Turn off route”
This works for me with S9 and S5, I don’t know about Ambits as I do not have one now and this was working with iOS but I think works the same for Android. I know, a clunky solution until we get POIs or waypoints in SA. I am currently using this for my races as I like to have waypoints for aid stations.

Works great, thanks.

Is the POI coming for the suunto app? Still waiting to make the shift, but it seems the app is still not fully finished?
-
@stevena We think so, a survey released by Suunto showed waypoints and POIs in the app but we do not know when. Dimitiros has said these are coming as well.
-
@stevena maybe it’ll be in this weeks update. But we don’t know for sure…

This week expected update is a watch update and not an SA one
-
@Mff73 I’m pretty sure there will be functionalities added on both sides.
-
@BobMiles
Let’s hope
For my old SSU, I don’t expect too much new feature but who knows. -
Curious about the new update. Since the last update the zoom in my navigation screen changes at random… lets hope for the best regarding the poi’s
