NO accurate open water swim GPS- is this resolved somehow?
-
Can someone help with a solution to the openwater swimming tracking. I have waited for the GPS, stuck it in my cap, on a belt on my back, on my wrist doing freestyle and NOTHING works!! How does GARMIN get it right and this company not???

Hey hi @Catherine-Matsalla can I know the watch model? Swimming should be quite accurate on the S9 especially.

Summoning also @Saketo-Nemo our open water man

I have had good results with both ssu and s9 in i ows. So if you have problem with the GPS even when wearing it in the gap then something is not right…
Are you using the standard open water swim profile? I tried to use a run profile at some point and that didn’t work well. Are other activities working fin with the watch? -
@johan6504 Dont use the running for OSW. OWS has a special GPS mode.

Yes I figured that one out
Will ows work for running… Haven’t tried that yet. -
I can confirm that Suunto 9 is fantastic in OWS. Last week I swam at least twice a day at sea and s9 never missed a shot, pretty impressive. I swam even wearing SSU, which is also good, but Suunto 9 has something extra. I have many tracks to show you if you want.
I would not try to wear it with particular methods, if not the most logical one, that is, on the wrist. Select OWS, wait 3 minutes by hand (but honestly, it is not even necessary as I could test) and start the watch before immersing it in water.
The only trick you need to have is to take care to carry long strokes, before dipping your hand in water for the next stroke, so as to keep the watch out of the water for about 2 seconds and give the watch a chance to “talk” with satellites.
