How consumers use to react to changes

Five stages of people facing technological changes:
1.- Outrage: where one shows his disbelief and expresses his rejection of the change.
2.- Negation: for the user it is impossible for the new technology to be superior in any aspect to which he already knows.
3.- Surprise: after the first contact with this technology, the user is surprised by its operation. The result obtained in your test is not expected.
4.- Devotion: after a period of regular use, small details are discovered. Those that make using the new technology overshadow the moments of failure.
5.- Silence: technology becomes invisible in daily use, assuming it is there and trusting it. -
Except for all 5 to happen, the technology changes have to be really good and make sense. We are a far cry from it right now.
I usually adopt new ideas very quickly and try to make them work but if the change is not for the better or development is not moving fast enough (relative term, I know) … I get irritated. Especially if something used to work very well and somebody tears it down.

Ha-ha! I am at step #3, and my surprise was mostly about how backwards it is.
I think the outrage comes mostly from the fact that many features are removed by the transition to the new technology. It is dumbed down and targets different kind of users. SA is slowly improving and some of the new features proposed in a recent survey are pretty good but the improvements are long overdue. Suunto shouldn’t had forced everyone on the new platform until it was more mature and at least had a feature parity with Movescount.
