@morskilav
Afaik It didnât, it just for the âtrainerâ like model -
Suunto is going to replace all lines to numerical models.
So we might call the baro version like .5, suunto 9 baro =suunto 9.5

It looks like this watch could replace my ambit3 peak! Very nice. Hopefully Version with baro will be available

Personally I donât think this would be a good upgrade from Ambit3 Peak. Youâll lose many features and gain almost nothing except a fancy look, vibration, and color display which has a worse contrast than Ambitâs LCD display.

@silentvoyager Agree. But due to âexternalâ GPS Antenna (like in A3F) there should be better GPS accuracy than in S9. But it is just my expectation.
-
Waiting for testing accuracy report from Gerald

@Emir-Karisik S5 wont be compatible with MC
Then Suunto better speed up the development of SA and its web frontend⊠otherwise I see a bunch of unsatisfied customers.
Letâs see what the May update has in store for us!
-
@jsuarez why with the web unsatisfied? The product is sold without a web (and there are other watches sold like so)

So made in china after all? -
@Emir-Karisik No the first and test units that 5K got are made in china

SLEEP TRACKING is a feature that is shared across the Suunto range. However the SLEEP QUALITY assessment is only found on the 3 Fitness model and now the Suunto 5 tooâŠbut not the S9.
-
Similarly, the ALL-DAY STRESS & RESOURCE is on the Suunto 5 as well as the 3 FitnessâŠbut not the S9.
XDDDDD
I would write the same⊠-

I think just to add on to the points raised here.
Yes I do agree that some of the feature set like fitness, VO2 Max, etc that seems to be found on the S3F should be available in the flagship S9. I think at the end of the day, the flagship watch, given itâs highest price tag, should encompass all the features, and that that the lower tiered models would have fragments of it. End of the day itâs the athlete who decides whether to use them or not. I think this is something Iâve always admired about Garmin as I used to own a few before jumping over.
That said, I feel that the S9 and Spartan line have so much untapped potential. An example would be the Valencell Optical HRM, which is technically best in class (I think) but at the moment, only displays just HRM data. Would be great if they can used to display HRV data instead, which is a very useful data set to have for recovery.
That said, thatâs just my opinion and I do hope to see some improvements down the line. The S9 is still a great watch by far, but lots of work to be done where the watch and app is concerned.
-
@azeanic Be careful though, although manufactured by Valencell, the optical sensors of the Spartan and S.x series are not identical. And consider that the inclusion of these sensors in watches responds to a market logic and not technology. Even today optical sensors do not have the reliability of a chest sensor.

On the flip side, the Suunto 5 has the following features the Suunto 9 doesnât:
â Has stress tracking metrics
â Has body resources (aka body battery) metric
â Has sleep quality metrics
â Has V02Max tracking/metrics
â Has adaptive training plansAs Iâve said numerous times before â I simply donât understand it when a companyâs flagship product (Suunto 9) lacks features that a lesser product has. I donât really even care âwhyâ that is (in this case, likely licensing driven since these are FirstBeat features). All it does is serve to frustrate the very buyers you want most: People who are buying the more expensive thing.
LOL
-
its not a lesser product. ITs a product for a different type of person the progress oriented athlete.
The extra $$ that your S9 costs are material costs among others.
Keep in mind the s3 had also these features and I did not see anyone here complain about it before or after buying the s9 right?
-
I think many hoped or still hope that these metrics will come to S9 too.
