Can you switch between wrist HR and chest strap during an active workout?

      Hi everyone,

Quick question regarding heart rate source switching on the Suunto Vertical 2.

If I start a running activity while wearing a chest strap, but the strap acts up or drops out midway through the workout, is it possible to manually switch the active HR source to the wrist-based optical sensor while the activity is still recording? Or is the sensor locked in once the session has started?

      Thanks for any insights!

Afaik there is no option to switch.

And you probably don’t want to. There is a reason you are not using the internal sensor in the first place and if the connection to your external sensor fails you are better off with no data than wrong data.

@Apor-Szabó Until now, I thought that if I had OHR turned on during an activity, it would automatically switch to the wrist after I disconnected the chest strap. But unfortunately that’s not the case! Even after disconnecting the chest strap, the watch still shows the heart rate for a while and then nothing. So what’s the point of that OHR setting? Suunto continues to surprise me…

And another feature that just works on the Run and not on Suunto’s flagships, absolutely baffling. Start a run with HRM and if it disconnects or W/E during the run the watch continues where it left off without a hiccup.
