@aiv4r I thank you for your clarification and certainly everyone has their own ideas. I find the described area of application of the user really comprehensible with an adventure watch. The recording over several days or the “continue later” is a scenario that seems very plausible to me. It is actually a pity that I can only pause the activity. So while the activity is paused I can’t look at the standard widgets like timer, weather, tide etc… certainly there are workarounds or Suunto plus apps but I have to have set them up beforehand. I see a limitation here and definitely potential for improvement.
It may be that the user’s criticism was partly emotional. However, the feedback is still justified. And should Suunto programmers be here in the forum, this criticism is meaningful and important. Anyone who advertises a watch as an “adventure” watch should hear exactly this feedback. Different users different needs. Maybe not yours, maybe not mine. But the desire for the best possible product is understandable. Incidentally, this is not described transparently in the product description.I often have the impression here in the forum that criticism and wishes is an strong trigger. The current stand is defended … I don’t need that, I don’t want that etc. Why they do so vehemently refuse to expand the range of functions? I also don’t scold zonesense just because I don’t use it… I’m always happy when the Watch is extended. And yes I know there is no right to feature extensions. But we have 2026 and no analog watch. The competitors seem to be more flexible in some respects. The development of the competitors is clear and I would find it a shame if Suunto would miss the connection here… -

You might have missed this, but you can change them during the workout. Like you can change your route that you are navigating on…

@2b2bff Thanks, that’s really helpful to know, I didn’t realise you could add or remove apps while in an activity. I think half the problem is that Suunto’s “documentation” is so light - for example, the V2 User guide has just one page on sports apps (https://www.suunto.com/en-gb/Support/Product-support/suunto_vertical-2/suunto_vertical-2/suuntoplus-sports-apps/) and it implies that you have to set them up first. I’ve found out a lot today from the people in this forum, which is great, but it does make me think that Suunto could do a better job of providing a decent manual with examples covering various scenarios for different sports. The V2 “user guide” has obviously just been copied from the V1 and edited a bit - for example, it mentions a solar version, even though that’s V1.

but it is more like I would buy Coros Apex 4 or similar and go to their community and start complaining that they do not support “tags” on activities and I am so dissapointed in all they do -
@nico1234 I just got the vertical 2 coming from a garmin and also can’t believe pause and resume feature is missing. All the big names like garmin, coros, and amazfit have this feature, even my 8 year old garmin had it out of the box. I posted about it a few weeks ago and people lost their minds about how idiotic they thought the feature was. If you don’t have a need for it, then don’t use it, but many people find it useful.

I think you misunderstood something there. It is not idiotic, but there are just different use cases.
Coming from Garmin and expecting something to be there is one thing. Saying it is the most basic thing is another.
Garmin will auto save a paused activity after some time. That is why resume later is essential if you have a longer break. Suunto does not. You can have an activity in pause till the battery dies. So, resume later isn’t that essential anymore.

Correct if I am wrong, but if an activity is in pause, it will still use more battery than in regular watch mode no?
For me it is a nice feature, but not something I would die for. I also criticize garmin for having that on watches and not on edge computers. But again it is a nice thing but not to die for ,for me. -
@2b2bff I agree this is partially due to my expectations being set a certain way coming from a different product. But after 8 years of using the pause/resume later feature frequently AND other big brands having this same feature, it does feel basic at this point.
The energy on the other thread generally felt negative.
This is a direct quote from someone that replied in the other thread. “…instead of that idiotic ‘Resume Later”. -
It’s not unreasonable since Suunto Run has this feature for a couple of months. I use it frequently.

@elbee I think the examples above give a good idea:
Multi Day Hike: As you cannot resume later, you maybe let the activity run paused. Then you cannot set the Alarm to get up early next day or use the torch to light the way to the toilette
Running/Hiking in the Dark: No Access to torch
Hiking: No weather forecast (Now solved with Gustin, thanks for that)small comment on this one: it is absolutely possible to use the torch during activities. Just enable it in the settings you access by a long press on the lower button.
