9PP Appreciation in 2026 / Things to fix before it's orphaned
-
@jthomi My battery swap took a bit longer than a week (in Europe) and was well documented to follow. Did not change much to charging times

I bought my S9PP shortly after its launch and hereâs how it went with my last half marathon:

Estimated 40 hours - based on the real battery usage during 3 hour long workout. Route loaded + one S+ (Constantin) + H10.
Good as new.

@Ćukasz-Szmigiel Thatâs good to hear that the in-activity battery life has kept up over the years. How is the day-to-day battery on your watch? Mine took a bit of a dive after the last update it received. I lose 8-10% daily, excluding activities, with HR off.
Itâs interesting that Suunto still lists the 9PPâs battery life as 30 days (time mode) and 21 days (w/ tracking and HR). This was only ever possible at the time of release when the wrist HR activated once every 10 minutes. Even with constant HR, I feel like there was a period where I could get two weeks out of the watch. With the current (and final?) software, Iâm down to 5-7 days with HR off.

â@duffman19 I donât know, because the difference between 7 and 8 days of battery life isnât really noticeable, at least not for me. If it went down compared to when it was new, itâs definitely nothing drastic.

@Peter-Pan-0 hey
Before updating, you need to write the exact name of your firmware. When you got it, you can try the latest one and rollback if needed.
Check forum https://forum.suunto.com/topic/6836/firmware-collection/110The most stable for me was the 2.48.16, unfortunately, I never found the exact name so impossible to rollback
. It was the best about bug and battery.Latest is quiet ok but definitely not a bug free. Especially, there is some famtom vibration sometimes

@Ćukasz-Szmigiel Where can I find a tool like this?

@Squirrel thank you

Nico_Lam thanks for the answer. I get phantom vibrations at my Version as well. But itâs not too often so I donât care much.

To add to this one, I have the lovely death of HR experience today. See below:

I sent logs of course, latest firmware. But somewhat perturbed that this is the end firmware for the watch and this happens. Resources is also stuck at 70%, despite being at 10% before the night. So I suspect a reboot or something is involved?
