3 issues with my vertical 2.56.18
-
Hi everyone,
I’ve been using the Vertical 2 since launch. Before that, I had the Suunto 9 Baro. I bought the newer model because my experience with the 9 Baro was nothing but positive.
Now I have three issues, and honestly, I have a feeling none of them will be fixed anytime soon.
- Alpine skiing / Snowboarding
I first noticed this around February. It affects both Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding. My brother-in-law has a Race 2 and has exactly the same issue.
The watch doesn’t count the first run. I reported it to Suunto Support, but I got the impression they either weren’t aware of the problem or just acted like they weren’t.
Has it been fixed? I honestly don’t know. I’ll find out next winter, but I have a feeling it hasn’t, because I’m not convinced they’re even aware of it yet.
- Bluetooth connection every morning
For about a month now, every morning when I put the watch on, it won’t reconnect to my phone automatically.
I reported this as well. Again, Support didn’t seem to know about the issue, and even after the latest firmware update it’s still happening. Yes, I’m running the newest software.
- Cycling
Yesterday I went for a bike ride with my family. My wife has a Garmin Venu 4.
My Vertical 2 connected to the cadence sensor, but it never showed any cadence data. Even worse, the GPS distance was completely wrong.
On a ride of about 15 km, my watch recorded only around 6 km. I actually had to edit the activity manually using my wife’s watch as a reference.
The funny thing is that the route itself was drawn perfectly on the map, so the GPS track looked fine. Until yesterday I always thought GPS accuracy was one of Suunto’s strongest points. What’s even stranger is that two days earlier everything worked perfectly.
None of these issues ever happened on my old Suunto 9 Baro.
So now I have a “better” watch with a nicer display… but also with problems I never had before.
Honestly, if posts like this don’t lead to any reflection on Suunto’s side (and I doubt they will—I’m just one user among thousands of happy customers), I’m going to start regretting spending so much money on a Suunto watch.

Yes, bluetooth connection is strange. It connects, but after long time for me. I have to turn BT off/on on mobile phone to force connect

Because your cadence sensor was connected as speed sensor, just go and check it again :-). This is another bug, and we can´t pair speed and cadence sensor at same time, only one can be paired. Also automatic calculation of wheel circumference will be fine.

@HonzaS
Thanks for your time
I have made a routine on my phone which turn off wait 10s and then turn on the Bluetooth (it works but this is insane) - this watch and this software platform is over or almost a year and they still have Bluetooth issue?I’ll check this what you wrote regarding cadence sensor
Btw I made factory reset today hope this will change something
Thanks again

@tomahawk5000 You´re welcome. Sadly I think, that factory reset won´t change anything :-(.

@HonzaS one more question
Regarding cadence sensor. Should I remove it or just set in right way? I can see that I can set wheel size and turn on or off something like sinc speed and cadence (but it cannot sync speed because it’s only on cadence mode)
I removed sensor and at least distance is correct
