Suunto Vertical 2 power meter connection and recording issues.
-
During my last rides I had the following issue: Suunto vertical 2 is connected to my powermeter (4iiii Precision 3). When the connection is lost (during pausing for resupply), the watch is not reconnecting to the powermeter. There is also no option in the menu to reconnect sensors without stopping the activity and starting a new one.
After the ride, for the part where the powermeter was not connected, power is reported with β0β in the file, which is also not good (changing average power as well as TSS and all other metrics).Suunto SW Team: Please add the option on the menu to reconnect sensors also during an activity (or check, whether there is an issue reconnecting the sensor after the connection was lost). Also, it might help in that case to not report missing power as β0Wβ if connection is lost.
Is there anywhere to create an official ticket and maybe upload the files?

@mrkus Thanks for the good description of the issue. I have the exact same problem. But I use Magene and Rotor power meters. Extremely annoying.
I would also add the possibility tonadd a new sensor during a ride.
Suunto race 2 and vertical 2 arensupposed to have great processing capabilities; theoritically there should be enough ressource in the watch to chose the sensors during an activity. -
@Belli-Sher-Tri @mrkus it is a well known and reported issue of bluetooth sensors dropping connection (power-meters and HR belt monitors) to Vertical/Vertical2/Race/Race2 that Suunto unfortunately (at least officially) continues to refuse to acknowledge.
If you search the forum there are multiple instances of this problem reported (and very well documented).

Thank you for your replies and clarification. If this is well known and reported, I assume there is no need to provide any of the files or additional information to help with the Bugfix?
@brad_olwin @isazi @dimitrios-kanellopoulos @pavel.samokha
As described above this seems to be a known issue. I can reproduce this with four different powermeters (all of them, two pairs of Assioma Pros, Assioma Duo, 4iii precision 3). If stopped for approximately 5 minutes (e.g., a ferry) or moving out of Bluetooth range (e.g., resupply), the watch does not reconnect to the sensors. The power is reported as 0 for the rest of the activity. There is no option in the menue to reconnect to the sensor.
As I use the watch for continuous data logging (and therefore bought the Vertical 2 for additional battery life), this issue is really annoying. Is there any fix planned? -
@mrkus is this happening with the latest firmware?
-
@isazi yes, the watch was updated (I think last week) and I experienced it again during the last rides with the newest firmware. If it helps, I can provide the data.
I logged three rides,- Dropout during resupply (supermarket) approx. 8h into the ride. Reported 0W for the rest
- Ferry approx. 1h into the ride. Approx 10 minutes waiting time and 10 minutes on the ferry. I was close to the bike the whole time but the powermeter disconnected.
- Same scenario as 1.)
If I remember correctly, during the first ride with the newest firmware, the power was recorded for the full ride despite a supermarket stop. This was the shortest (<5 minutes) but I went definitely out of range of the Bluetooth signal.
As I said, if I can do anything to help you fix the issue please donβt hesitate to ask.
