What is the bluetooth version of the Vertical 2 ? (Or Suunto watchs in general)
-
Hello,
I cannot find the information, and guys on the chat cannot answer my question.
Does anyone know the bluetooth version of Suunto watchs ? Especially the race, vertical and Vertical 2 ?
I need to know because I’m often on call when playing football, and I need to know if someone called me when I’m on the opposite side of the field. Right now, I have the suunto 5 and I miss a lot of phone calls…
Thank you for any information about bluetooth versions of the watchs ! -
@Nico78 You mean you need a certain range for the watch-phone connection?
This does depend on many factors.
BT standard is only one of them.
The Vertical and Race use 5.2, Vertical 2 uses 5.3More important for the range is the antenna design though…

@Egika Great !! Thank you for your answer !
Yes, I need the longest phone-watch connexion range.
I am sure you are right about the fact that there are other factors, as the antenna design…unfortunately, I cannot access (or understand
) this kind of information, but if you have intels about the range connexion of this 3 watches, I will be happy if you let me know !!
Do you know what was the BT version in the suunto 5 ? I’ve understand that there is a huge difference in the range connexion between 4.0 and 5.0, I hope the suunto 5 was 4.0 or lower (so that my new watch should be far better).
Thank you ! -
@Egika and the software that allows the connection! Even if the ‘link’ is up, if the OS doesn’t recognise that (on both ends), dropped notifications ensue.

@Nico78 There’s no “classic” bluetooth. Suuunto watches (and most wearable devices) use low power edition of bluetooth (btle) on all suunto i believe it could be 5.x edition minor number doesn’t make sense.
it works on the same band 2.4 GHz. but significantly lower transmition power ±0.1 W as far i remember depends on exact antena and case.
