Is it possible for a SuuntoPlus App to read information from a GoPro via BLE?
-
Hi everyone,
I’m new to Open SuuntoPlus development and I’m currently exploring the SDK before starting my first project.
I regularly use a GoPro while trail running, and I realized that I don’t actually need full camera control from my watch.
What would already be extremely useful is simply being able to display information such as:
Recording status (recording / not recording)
Battery level
Remaining storage or estimated recording time
Connection statusBasically, a small status dashboard during an activity.
Before investing time learning the SDK, I’d like to understand whether this is technically possible.
Does the current Open SuuntoPlus SDK allow communication with external BLE devices such as a GoPro to read this type of information?
I’m not asking how to implement it yet. I’d just like to know whether the SDK exposes the necessary BLE capabilities.
If someone has already experimented with external BLE devices (not only sensors), I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.
If this is technically possible, I’d be interested in developing an Open SuuntoPlus app for it and sharing it with the community.
I think this could be useful not only for me, but also for trail runners, cyclists and other athletes who record their activities with action cameras.
Thanks!

Yes, it does

@alberto.munoz I tried with the split Garmin speed and cadence sensor. I failed, I guess I am the problem.
Maybe you can inspire from here and let Claude look into it: https://github.com/SellA/BoschEBikeSuunto
Maybe I should give it another shot too.
The hard part is that you have to flash in on your watch only then you can test it. You cannot connect a debugger to the watch, so you have to log using systemEvent() and load logs of the Watch afterwards.
That all can be done with suuntoplus in viscose.
