      Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a UI redesign of a climbing app for Suunto watches and would like to share the concept for feedback.

The project is split into two apps:

      • Indoor Climbing – focused on gym climbing and bouldering training
      • Outdoor Climbing – focused on sport climbing, trad climbing, and multi-pitch routes

The goal is to improve the UI and provide more meaningful climbing-specific metrics instead of generic fitness data.

The Indoor Climbing app is currently in development and includes features such as automatic climb detection, auto-lap for attempts, recovery timer, and performance metrics like ascents, duration, vertical gain, and heart rate zones.

The Outdoor Climbing app will be developed later and will include a redesigned UI based on climbing phases (approach / climbing / rest). It will also introduce outdoor-specific metrics such as pitch tracking, time under tension, movement/rest ratio, and wall/pitch inclination analysis (only available in the Outdoor version, using GPS and altitude data).

I would really appreciate your feedback on:

the UI redesign and separation between Indoor and Outdoor apps
the usefulness of the Indoor features
which climbing metrics would be most valuable for you

      Thanks a lot!

@omunoz I do both indoor/outdoor sport and outdoor/trad/mp. Currently for indoor I use Climbing Indoor profile and for all outdoor types Climbing Mountain. In all occasions I start activity and put my watch in the pocket. When I had a 9 Baro I scratched the screen on the rock and since then I don’t wear it on wrist while climbing. I use Polar Verity Sense for HR data. Only for trad/mp climbing I use lap function to mark start of the route and end of the route. I would like to see the Outdoor Climbing app, but not sure if I would like to lap each arrival to the anchor and start of the climbing again.
