Three times within about one week (and twice today) the activity ended by itself when the ‘destination reached’ message appeared – the watch went back to the unlock screen (code entry). This is definitely a bug. Vertical 2.

This likely means the activity crashes abnormally - that would be a better way to call this. As a software engineer I’d guess that there is a race condition - that is a term that means that some part of the software stack thinks that the navigation has ended and some other part of the software stack thinks it hasn’t ended yet and try to update something in navigation related data that is no longer valid.

The timing may be such that the race condition occurs infrequently so it is hard to reproduce. @maszop, there may be something in your watch or activity setup that makes it more likely, for example some specific S+ apps running at the same time. Can you think of anything?

@sky-runner That’s correct – it’s a crash. Every time if it happens, the ascent reads 0, and the unlock screen just means the watch rebooted after crashing.

The conditions were always the same: Hiking activity, map screen, active GPX navigation, and SuuntoPlus: Last km/mile, Weather Insights, and Burner.
And always after the ‘destination reached’ message appeared.

Today I had two crashes a few minutes after that message appeared. I walked around for a few minutes, but before I could save the activity, it crashed and restarted.

Something should be done – these crashes are happening too often, and they’re repeatable situations.
I lost most of the activity data.

@maszop what screen were you on? Regular with data fields, navigation or S+?

I frequently use hiking activity, map screen and gpx navigation, but never had a crash after the destination reached message. But I don’t use SuuntoPlus apps.

Maybe turn off the apps one by one to see if that is the culprit.

(I learned from an honest garmin support engineer to never use third party apps on the watch, because garmins implementation isn’t very good, and I really doubt Suunto has a better sandbox for their Suuntoplus implementation. So an buggy app can crash the whole watch easily)

(Had only 1 crash with my race s doing a trailrun, following a gpx course and the moment I switched from map screen to the next screen my watch crashed. A bit of a bummer during a 35k trailrun, but that was over a year ago and didn’t happen again)

@elbee there’s something going on with V2 and S+ apps and navigation. I’m observing a navigation popup appearing and triggering “back on track” when loading different templates in my S+ app and that’s on S9PP.

Like I said, I avoid apps on my watch.
