Dual Race Support: 24 Hours Between Checkpoints with Suunto Vertical 2
-
Today I had two athletes racing trail events: one in a 100-mile race (3rd overall) and one in a 100 km race (my wife).
I spent 24 hours moving from one aid station to another, juggling Google Maps to reach checkpoints by car and using my Suunto Vertical 2 in navigation mode on both GPX tracks to intercept the race routes.
The Suunto proved stable, solid, fast, responsive, precise, and with outstanding battery management.
The “navigation-only” feature, with the ability to load GPX files on the fly from the phone, is exceptionally user-friendly.
Excellent work!

3rd place in a miler is impressive! Hope your wife went well in her race? Great to hear the SV2 performed well

@MiniForklift Thanks a lot! Yes, my wife proudly brought the medal home. At this point, she’s the ultrarunner in the family.
Back to the maps: I think they’re very clear and easy to read. The latest update makes them more complete. For me, they’re much more readable than Garmin maps in terms of tracks, roads and trails, contour lines, and color contrast.
