[Feature suggestion] Please! Please! Please! Allow map and climb guidance zoom controls when button lock is activated!
-
Today was my first time using Vertical 2 on a long run in mountains and I discovered how easy it is to accidentally press the START/PAUSE button during an ongoing activity because it sticks out. I was putting my jacket on, and the jacket sleeve caught the button and paused the watch. I’ve never had that issue with Race or Race S.
The reason I freak out about that is because pausing an activity during a race is not a good thing, especially if that doesn’t get promptly noticed. I bought this watch specifically for UTMB which I am racing this year, and I definitely don’t want this to happen. I know that would unnecessary stress me during the race.
Now, there is a Button Lock function, which I’d definitely use during the race. I’d strongly prefer to lock the watch at the beginning of a race and not unlock it until I cross the finish line. Except that that disables a critical for me function - an ability to zoom the map and climb guidance, which I tend to do a lot during a race. To make it worse, unlocking the watch from the map or climb guidance screen is impossible.
So here is my ask for the Suunto team - please consider allowing zooming in the button locked state. I don’t see how that would be any worse than switching between data screes which is already enabled during a lock. It would be especially great if this feature was available by UTMB race at the end of August. I am sure a lot of people who will use Suunto watches during the race would appreciate it!
