@Manuel-Extreme said in Vertical 2 resources:

@maszop Are you saying that based on inference, or because you have the specifications?

“Suunto Race, Suunto Race S, Suunto Vertical, Suunto Ocean and Suunto 9 Peak Pro GPS watches can track your HRV during your sleep. Nighttime measurement is a reliable and easy way to gather comparable HRV data.”

Looks like this debate is going nowhere. @maszop in the picture above, you show HRV widget that shows average HRV during sleep specifically. But it does not disprove that 24 hour HRV measurement is part of the data stream used for continuous Resources calculation. So better arguments are needed. Or better yet, someone from Suunto who knows what they are talking about regarding this, to set the record straight.

@masi0 said in Vertical 2 resources:

In the night yes, but not during the day.

Same goes for this claim. Provide more details, or is this just an assumption?

@Squirrel Measuring HRV alone is pointless because the data itself is useless. What’s needed is a trend based on repeated measurements under repeated conditions. That is, at night.

Agreed, HRV in isolation. But nobody said it is used in isolation to calculate resources.

You already got that in the HRV widget you posted above and also in the app, where you can look at long term trends and history. So what are you trying to suggest here regarding resources?

@maszop correct, but my assumption would be that Suunto as everybody else have added HRV during the day also since they added Stress measurment in Resources. Do not have any proof of that, but I doubt they only use HR to calculate that.

@aiv4r Your assumption is based on what?

@maszop Why do you keep insisting on answering with certainty about things you don’t actually know?

Stress scores are typically measured using HRV and HR, including during the day under optimal conditions.
That’s certainly how Firstbeat algorithms work.

Does Suunto do it? According to its in-app documentation, yes

The study confirms that other sport Watch Firstbeat based primarily uses HRV (with HR as a supporting signal) to derive the stress score.

                    @Manuel-Extreme
You can’t get precise data from the watch’s OHR throughout the day – data that would let you reliably determine HRV and spot trends.
Garmin churns out hundreds of ridiculous statistics; half of them might as well come from a random number generator.

                    https://forum.suunto.com/topic/14697/armband-and-zonesense

During sleep, you move your hand very little, skin temperature remains relatively stable, and blood flow is more consistent, making this type of measurement relatively easy for optical heart rate (OHR) sensors.

And apart from the measurement problem during the day, there are also hundreds of factors that affect the body, that affect HRV, and have nothing to do with recovery.

@maszop You keep writing your own interpretations that have little to do with reality. But that’s fine, I won’t insist, because I understand that I could bring all the documents and data, and you would still remain faithful to your own ideas without giving value to the topic

@Manuel-Extreme Find one place where Suunto says it uses HRV during the day for Regeneration and Resources. For now, you’re creating some kind of alternative reality.

@maszop here you have the answer. Sure suunto uses HRV for Ressourcen Management in day conditions.

@maszop based on the description under resources. The screenshot is already here in the thread. I agree with you that it does not makes sense, but Suunto also sometimes does things that do not make a lot of sense 🙂

I guess therefore it is only used by resources in the “inactive” section…

@aiv4r I haven’t seen this before. If this is true, then this Resources widget is probably not very reliable.
