Suunto Nautic S General Discussion
-
@Nandodiver Comparison on Suunto home page doesn’t seem correct. E.g. Ocean nowadays has surface time notify.
-
@marbjo you might be right about surface time…
Also ive found in other groups someone mention the diferences between Ocean and Nautic S
***Thanks for your feedback! The Ocean and Nautic S have different features due to hardware differences. We’re always improving via firmware updates, but some advanced Nautic S functions may not come to the Ocean.
Keep your device updated, and feel free to share any feature requests! The Nautic S supports dual transmitter for sidemount diving and be able to display simultaneously the pressure in each of two tanks.
The Suunto Ocean currently does not support simultaneous display of two tank pressures for sidemount diving. It can connect to multiple Tank PODs, but only the active gas’s pressure is shown. Unlike the Nautic S, dual‑tank display is not available on Ocean, and there’s no official confirmation it will be added in the future.***

@Nandodiver Nice! Are there any features you can use on land? I guess Altimeter and Compass will work, how about maps and navigation?

Suunto Nautic Vs Suunto Nautic S
Overall both dive computers are really well built, the Nautic S seems a bit “invisible” compared with more robust Nautic.
In terms of visibility both are very good, the best among different models i bought over the years.
They both match all the diving settings of each other, safety stop, depth, temperature, etc etc

-
@Nandodiver Very interesting! So there is no difference in functionality, just the screen? Do you know if the Nautic S can handle Trimix? RGBM model is not available on both, right?
-
@VoiGAS no Trimix for Nautic S
No RGBM on both
-
Its seems the Nautic S gps is more accurate than the Nautic regarding 3D MAP
ive used the Nautic S on left arm and the Nautic on right arm
The dive profile 3D on the Nautic S translates the dive we did.
There was some illegal fishing traps/rope in Marine park and we went to “investigate” and return to the same place using the same rope from fishing trapsThe Nautic GPS route deviate a lot more than it supposed to…
Something that the software team should investigate…Nautic S

Nautic

@nandodiver hi. i have two questions. does Suunto nautic s support 3D dive map sharing like in suunto Ocean? lastly, would you prefer it to the Garmin Descent G2? thanks
-
@Algebra Heres 2 screenshots of sharing 3D maps
i would prefer the Suunto S to G2 just because as option to use air transmitter.
The G2 has option to more gases CCR, trimix.I think depends what type of diving you do… if you dive up to 60m the Suunto S is more than enough.
if you do sidemount, Nautic S for sure…

@Nandodiver i’m a 3-star CMAS diver. for training purposes, we dive to a maximum depth of 42 meters. they said that due to Suunto issues, their sensors were unreliable, but I really liked the Nautic S, especially its visible screen and design. thank you very much.
